Right now, I have my 660 mounted from the Cup holder which is pretty good but I like the idea of having it higher so I don't have to take my eyes off the road.
I came across this AC vent unit.... Anyone using it?

Another option is Garmin's portable holder. I have one -- works great, no tape or velcro -- DOES NOT slip off dash -- allows easy storage and/or movement to another car. Price is about $45.00.
Used it on a 4,000 mile trip -- it never moved an inch.
I use a holder that is close to the Garmin one shown above. You can get them at Best Buy for around $30-$40. It's great to have the GPS on the dash for ease of viewing and you can easily transfer from car to car!

I just bought one of these at Best Buy for $40. I like my suction cup better, but both work well.

Yes,
It works great and can be removed in seconds.

I got one that attaches the same as yours for my Magellan but could not get it to work. The vent has the center lever to adjust the air flow that causes it not to fit. It you find away around this I would like to know.

I have a similar one. It wobbles a bit, especially when you're trying to type something onto the GPS touch screen.
The GPS is easy to read in that location and is out of the way of controls and such. Its a good solution, but not a great one. I still prefer the windshield suction mount.
I'm looking for a more solid piece, that would attach behind the radio fascia.
I know I will probably get slammed for this one but I just put the suction cup right on the face of the radio. I use and i-Pod so I don't need to see that part of the radio anyway.

Mine won't stick like that. As a matter of fact, it barely sticks to the window anymore, always falls down. Is there a way to make it stick better? Clean it with Rubbing Alch?

I changed the tape on the suction cup (to 3m industrial) base (disc) that came with the unit. mounts right above the center vent. (below the line of sight, so its legal in CA). Easy to see without taking your eyes completely off the road ahead and easy to touch when needed. Routed the charger cable behind the front plastic dash so its out of the way yet easy to remove if I need to.
