code 1288 steeering wheel position lock

Hi All, i thought i would just inform you all about this problem i had while driving my z06 02 vette . i had my steering lock up on me , and the code is 1288 . it happens to be a sensor in the steering colum so please be aware of this . It happend to me while driving on the intersate doing 60mph oh boy you talk about scaring the hell righ out of you . i was just wondering if anyone else have had this problem?

thanks , i put it back on the road yesterday and put 100 miles on it and now it seems to be ok

I heard of them locking up while driving but it's very rare. For $50 bucks get youself a CLB (Column Lock Bypass) from Corvettes of Houston. Took me about a 1/2 hr to install. You'll never have to worry about column lock again.
