My front brakes are squeeling even though there is no noticable brake dust issues, cleanliness issues, and the pads still have 75% wear on them left. Just had the rear brakes and rotors replaced (thanks previous owner). Was squeeling before and after the rear change.
If you have the OEM brake pads this is a common problem that most people have with their Z. It is weird that you don't get much dust because a main cause of the squealing comes from the dust. Some people will get to about 55mph and slam on the brakes to break up the dust that gets caught in the ABS system. Personally, I switched to the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads with drilled slotted rotors and have had no problems since

Well it's annoying but I hate to replace pads at 75% wear. Maybe I'll try slamming on the brakes.
I'm starting to regret this purchase at times, the last owner sucked at maintaining this vehicle.
My car only has 9000 miles on it and I'm getting the squealing sound as well. Is there an easy way to cure this, as its pretty irritating.
I know this might sound stupid, but I feel like people are either wondering why someone that owns a Vette can't afford to get new brakes, or wondering why someone who knows so little about cars bought a Vette when my brakes squeal.
I had a problem with mine doing this as well. It's funny what you said abou the squeeking, but you're right. You pull up in a Z06 and the breaks are squeeking like hell and it's embarrasing. I checked my pads and they were about 75% as well. I took it to the track and did some hard breaking one weekend and it hasn't done it sense. But I would recommend upgrading your brake pads when those wear out.

To tell you the truth when mine squeal it is a bit embarrassing, but then again I'm in a Z06 and really don't give a **** when I look at most of the crap boxes people are driving. Plus for some odd reason people assume my car cost like 50k LOL and I just let them assume what they want Not to mention its just random people on the street so who gives a flyin ****.

Its funny you mention this because mine only do it under light stopping. I think I'm gonna have to go out and stomp the **** out of my brakes a few times and see if it helps.
Just tell them it's a factory race car and their supposed to do that.
Yep, that's what I tell them too. The first time I heard brake squeal on a performance car was when I saw a Ferrari F40 pull up at a car show when they first came out back in 1987. I realized then that the squealing meant something special.
Just do the bed in procedure like mentioned above. When you're not hard on the breaks they tend to gum up and can cause squeaking. I occasionally stretch the legs and will have to get on the brakes to come back down from cloud nine and I have no squeal issues. It doesnt hurt to be hard on the brakes, thats why we bought this car

What part is gumming up? Where is the brake dust accumulating that causes the sound? Is there something we can clean??
