Default Headliner Replacement Options

I need to replacement my headliner. It's starting to separate and flaps in the wind. The dealership wants 200 bills. I checked with gmpartsdirect.com who had great pricing up front, but their bull**** shipping and handling fee puts them on par with dealership pricing. GMpartshouse.com doesn't have it in stock with no ETA in sight so Gene canceled my order. Any suggestions other than biting the bullet and ordering directly from the dealership? Has anyone tried reupholstering their existing one with someone cool like leather?

Yeah, suede would be interesting if it was done tastefully. I'm concerned the existing headliner is too flimsy for anything other than a thin fabric though. I'll just order the OEM headliner from the dealership in the morning. The flapping is driving me crazy.

Most dealerships I work with will give a discount. Check to see if they will match GM Parts Direct or Gene's pricing before shipping? Better to sell a part at discount and make some money Vs not selling it at all.

take it to an upholstery shop, and have them put new material on it. my guy would probably be in the $40-50 range because there's not much material there. this would be if you brought him the headliner, not if he had to remove it from the car.

you have to take it out to change it for a new one, so it's no more work, saves $, and will not come apart again if you get it re-done properly.

Well, I'm still waiting on my headliner to come in from my local GM dealership. Apparently, GM has a back order on this part with no ETA in sight. The headliner is starting to get bad now. I'm about to remove it and just wait. Anyone know of a vendor who has a FRC headliner in stock? Hook a brother up!
