yes, but make sure it's the right fob for your car, and then just program it.

To expand on what has already been said - the fobs (actually called remote function actuator), the fobs between '97 and '99 had a passive slide switch below the buttons. The '00 used essentially the same fob, with the only difference being the absence of the passive switch.

The '01 -'04 was totally different and they are not backwards compatible. The C6 fob is different again.

Programming instructions are in the owner's manual.

I bought one for my 04 worked perfect after programing. Buy the right one, they are numbered on the back #1, and #2.

So can you use the 97-99 on a 2000? The one for the 2000 is so high dollar I dont care if it has an extra switch if it will work.

I love the irony! People spend tens of thousands of dollars modding their Corvette, but won't spend $90 for a new key fob.

Yep!!! I went and got 2 new FOB's for my Z06 off ebay!! They came in the pair, 1 and 2 w/ instructions, for $35 shipped!!!

It just makes sense to buy what you can CHEAP, so you can save extra money for those EXPENSIVE MODDS!!!!

How can you possibly argue with a pair for $40 vs $90 at a dealer?

I broke the one on my DD, and I ordered a couple for less than $20 bucks on fleebay. The mustang now has a spare key with a spare remote. I need to get an extra remote for the vette; I locked myself out once .

That would be a good deal, if they work. Too many stories about buying fobs from e-bay that are junk. Why buy someone else's problem? I have one in the drawer now that I replaced the battery, cleaned, re-soldered, rebuilt and it still doesn't work. Since it is for a 2000, I could put it on e-bay and probably get $30-40 for it. And have some CF member pi**ed at me. But, that's just me, I would rather buy new than used.

My main point was the irony!

Buy NEW from forum supporter Gene Culley at www.GMPartsHouse.com

Having said that I purchased my spare 2000 fob from Gene but also purchased 6 (SIX) 2003 fobs for $90.00 TOTAL - Brand Spanking New on e-bay. (Three #1 and Three #2's) (This was a couple of years ago)

So From what I understand, There is a #1 FOB and a #2 FOB. Will the part number for the #1 be KOBLEAR1XT GM 25695954 and the #2 be KOBELEAR2XT? or with it Still be KOBLEAR1XT and the GM will be 25695955?

Both my fobs just stopped working, they will unlock but not lock. I have tried reprogramming, new batteries etc. Thoughts.

Thanks,
Jack
