I see that they changed the module (EBCM), but have they looked at the modulator valve? It is the other piece that works in conjunction with the Electronic Brake Control Module, and the more expensive of the two.
I could be way off, but I would ask them about it anyways!
what codes does it show? My car did the same thing when I changed the front bake lines to braided. Put aluminum washers on it instead of copper and thats what caused mine. switched back to copper washers between the line and caliper and it fixed it
When in doubt, just keep replacing parts till you stumble onto the real problem. Real good plan. Least their paying for it but I'm sure it's very aggravating to you. Good luck.
Yep, ain't nothing like the ol' "shotgun repair" technique. I would be embarrassed to call myself servicing something with that level of knowledge.
My Dealership told me the cause of my mirror/AC memory problems was due to the Muth Side view Signal Mirrors I installed two years ago. They replaced both mirror motor packs and reinstalled my factory mirrors (after breaking one of the Muth Mirrors trying to reinstall it). After they fixed the real cause of the problem, I ordered a replacement Muth mirror for the one they broke, reinstalled them for the factory mirrors and everything is working just fine. They just did not want to pay for the 3rd party mirror they broke, so they blamed the problem on those.
PS - I have been running LED Halo Taillights for 3 years with no problems.
I don't see any codes listed on the service records. I guess I'll have to wait til Tuesday and what they say. My guess is that I'll be back there by Thursday, which sucks cause I have a meeting two hours away on Wednesday and I'll be risking the problem returning on my trip.
I've had some time to look at the wiring diagram and surprisingly there is a feed from the tail lights into the EBCM. The stoplamp switch feeds a voltage via the underhood fuse block into the EBCM to provide "stoplamp supply voltage". I guess that lets the EBCM know when the car has stopped.
Despite that, I'd still be asking what codes the car is throwing. I can't imagine the LEDs have caused any interruption of the stop signal but I guess it could be possible. If they replaced the EBCM it could still be the steering wheel position sensor or the BPMV although less likely. The codes would tie it down.
One things for sure, if they can pin it on you for a mod which causes the problem it gets them off the hook. I'd dig deeper
The car is at the shop so I'll have to call tomorrow to find out the codes that were being thrown. Thanks for checking that wiring diagram for me. But with so many people running LED's I really can't see it being them. It's come on at various times. Sitting in my driveway idling, driving down the highway, driving in town...always seems to be raiing or after washing the car. I tried to tell them that, but they won't listen.
I got the same DIC warning on the day I bought my 2001 vert from a dealer in Grapevine, TX. I was driving back home to New Orleans at the time and was about half way back so I wasn't going back to the dealership to have it checked out. It turned out to be the Steering Wheel Position Sensor. Local dealer replaced it under the GM Certified Vehicle Warranty and I haven't had any trouble since.

That would be a first. With all the Halos out there, I would be hard pressed to believe that removing them would solve his problem unless something was wrong with the halos themselves. I bet they do something else and don't tell him. One way to verify the fix though...

I'm with you. It sounds like someone can't find the problem and is starting to clutch at straws

put the halos back in.
Or they'll refit the stock lights and find out the LEDs are not the issue
The have the stock lights on order. They told me that they might have to send my LED's to the warranty company for some reason. I told them if they send my lights back, they will be spending the $300 to buy a new set when this doesn't solve the problem.

I think a 2nd opinion may be in order
The likelihood of that fixing the problem must be quite low.
I had similar problems simply because the battery was dead. It had enough juice to start but it would throw a bunch of codes. You may just want to try changing the battery, could be a simple fix.
