Hi, I went to work and got in my car to come home and my passenger window wont work. I hear a tick at the door when I hit the switch but nothing----is this a common thing ---I owned 7 vettes and never had a motor go bad ----What should I trouble shoot first
If you hear the relay click, and the window does not move, you will probably need to replace the window regulator assembly.
Some will suggest you slam the door, beat on the door panel, etc., which may make it work for awhile, but once they quit working, you will eventually have to replace the regulator.
I have replaced both regulators on my 04 Z06, and so far they are still working fine. One window I used often, the other not very often, and both finally quit working completely.

I battled mine for 2 years and eventually gave in and had the window regulator replaced. The window began making a grinding noise as it was going down, so that was the last straw, and it was embarrassing when you try to roll the window down to talk to someone, and you can't!
Here was the technique that worked for me. I would turn the car on and then sit in the passenger seat. Then I would hold the window-down button and beat on the door panel next to the grab handle. Usually worked without fail.
You are definitely not the only one experiencing the problem!
I've replaced the driver-side regulator on my 04 coupe. If you know you way around a tool box it's not that hard. I think the new regulator way around $250
mine finally failed recently as well. For a while, I could beat the passenger door and get it to work, but after a while, it didn't respond to getting beat up anymore (I felt like Ike Turner beating up on my baby like that ).... so since I had an extended warranty with a $100 deductable, I took it in to have the motor checked out and also to get my oil pressure sensor replaced. They replaced the passenger door regulator/motor assembly and my oil pressure sensor. total cost to me was $130 Plus they have a 12 month warranty so if that stupid pressure sensor goes out again soon, they'll have to cover the repair on their own dime.

my warrenty is expired ---do you have a factory warrenty
I had this happen on mine also. I tried the hammer trick and it moved but died in the middle. I went and got a regulator and installed it in about 30 minutes. Its not hard at all. Good Luck
Hearing the click when you depress the switch is an indication that the window motor is bad. I've had both the left and right window motors replace on my 2004 coupe.

OK --How do I tell if its the REG OR THE MOTOR, HEARING THE RELAY CLICK I WAS TOLD ITS MOST LIKELY THE REG----HOW MUCH IS A MOTOR

WELL MINE WAS WORKING 100% THEN 8 HRS LATER ITS NOT---I NEVER EVEN HAD A INDICATION THAT SOMTHING WAS ABOUT TO GO WRONG, NO NOISES, GRINDING,INTERMITANT CLOSING OR OPENING---IT WORKEDFLAWLESSLY.
