Maybe it has to do something with the way the search feauture works now. It brings up some old threads for me.
Anyways I love my C5. I wouldn't trade unless I had the money to pay it off. Not worth a payment IMO. You can get one for your budget.

My Dad has a C6 and I have a daily driver C5. It's interesting to drive both vehicles back to back. The C6 is a more refined car with a nicer interior. The C5 is a little rougher and not quite as well appointed.
If your priority is a smoother ride, then definitely go with a C6, just stay away from the Z51 package. The Z51 will corner better, but have a rougher ride.
I looked at a C6, but it was a little more money than I was willing to pay. I had no problem 2005 Corvette Coupes with very low mileage for around $35k. Your budget sounds well thought out and very realistic.
Very well stated and with what you want for your Vette get the C6, why I am getting one, I have the C5 boosted for fun and will have the C6 for highway and DD duties

For what you're looking for I'd recommend a C6. The C5...Z06 especially... is a more violent and visceral car. The C6 has more creature comforts and is a lil more driver friendly. If its a tie i'd say go with whichever one catches your eye more. you can't go wrong
