Hi Gang, my sweetie wants a C5 or C6 convertible but is concerned about the hassle of a "manual" top. Comments please! I can't imagine that it is difficult.
Thanks
The manual top takes very little effort and your wife shouldn't have any trouble at all. A power top is available on the C6 as an extra cost factory option. Howerever, the C6 vert only has about 1/2 the trunk space of the C5 vert to begin with and the powerer top mechanism takes up a little more space. This is something you may want to consider if you plan on taking many extended road trips in the car and luggage space you might need.
It's really pretty easy - probably one of the easiest tops to stow of any car....great design really. I also still have tons of trunk to work with. The biggest pain for me is putting it up (because I never want to, but need to)
Piece of cake, especially when you have a window valet. I even use a fold down windjammer and still can open the top and raise the windjammer into place in less than a minute easily.
Have her try it BEFORE you buy it! It is a little hassle how close the top comes to the Tonneau cover as you bring the top up/down or down/up. I use the clear contact protector on my Tonneau cover to avoid the convertable top rubbing the Tonneau cover and destroying the paint, so it takes a couple of minutes to apply the plastic then lock the top.

It's so easy a cave man could do it.
I remember reading about an option offered on '57 Chevys that through some type of vacuum system the ashtrays would clean themselves? This Corvette power Vert top would fall into the same category.
