Getting yanked off the line by a fox body makes me hurt inside. I was feathering like crazy and still couldn't get the GYs to hook. Thankfully as I grabbed third I blew by him but the damage was done.
I'm planning on getting new wheels and tires and am stuck as to whether to go for wider tires for more money or slightly thinner tires for less.
When all said and done the car will have no more then 400-425 RWHP. Is it worth the extra money for the extra ~.5" or ~1" of traction or will I be fine with the 295s?
Minor suspension work will also be done after I get my wheels and tires.
your not really going to gain ANY traction off the line unless you are running something like a drag radial.
your not going to notice any difference going to a wider tire either. you need a softer compound tire. look at the tread rating on the tires, the higher the rating, the harder the tire, worse the traction. with a low tread rating, its going to be a softer tire with more grip.
Ditch the 19's if your going to the track or if you want traction in general. Get some 18's and go with BFG's (295/35/18 or 315/30/18 depending on rim width) or even the new MT's if you can find them. Hope you have at least a built diff if you plan on dead-hooking though. Good luck!

Perfect explanation! Thanks.

I'm keeping my stock wagons and will buy accordingly to what I get into.
I don't want to come off as some idiot that only cares about straight racing. I love the vette for it's all around ability and am ready to upgrade my rubber. Thanks for the input!
