I'd like to install an "in the dash" GPS unit, but I'm told our cars have a 1.5 DIN radio and nobody makes one for it. The dealers/installers all say that they'd have to install a single DIN and an adapter kit with an external screen. I remember seeing a "full screen" unit on the forum one time in a C-5, does anybody know who's it it?

There is quite a few of them, it's not too terribly hard to cut it, clean up the edges, then refit it yourself.
I believe some of the guys in the audio forum have a writeup over it, and some may be willing to sell you one.

you can find some pics with double din bezel by searching forum. I just ordered a double din+ pioneer d3 in dash navi from C5kidd.. He is a forum vendor and makes excellent double din bezel .
My Pioneer AVIC X1 is a 1.5 DIN flip out unit with sat nav. the latest US version is the N3 I think. I posted a How To fit it in the C5 Tech DIY thread.

The latest version of the Pioneer 1.5 DIN is the AVIC-N4, which has a flip-up 7" screen. Then it accomodates Blue-Tooth hands free phone (with an adapter), Ipod music, touch-screen operation, and a 200 watt amp, and you don't have to replace any speakers ao add a separate amp. I just had one installed, it fits where the old radio was, so no need to cut or re-fit anything. So far, I am very happy with it.
Unfortunately the flip up screens cover the A/C ducts when open. Do a search and you will find vendors who modify the dash surround for a double din unit.
I'm going the other way and having a plate made (humount) that will fill the 1-1/2 din space and let me use a single din unit.
A few of us have the eclipse AVN5435 or 5495 and it fits in with a little bit of trimming. I just had my bezel painted and no pics of it installed yet but this is a quick pic of when I was re-fitting prior to paint. You get the idea
That was the view from Las Vegas. My system couldn't work out where it was because it had the Euro software loaded. It defaulted to Paris Glad to say as soon as it came off the boat it recovered its loyalty and virtue
