A few weeks ago I had my abs/traction control light come on. Today I noticed my battery volts light vary from 12.1 to 14.1 it never remained still. When I would apply the brake my headlights would dim. Would this be the altenator or battery?Would this cause my service ABS LIGHT TO COME ON AS WELL?
thanks

Yes, a weak battery will cause the ABS and Traction warning. I would either charge the battery fully or replace it. I had same problem and put a float charger on my battery. After 3 days I had no more problems.
Check your codes first and then clear them. Charge your battery and see if the problem is cleared. You could always get it load tested. If it checks bad replace it. See what codes come back. It is possible you have a problem with your EBCM or a wheel sensor harness. If problem returns when the battery is cleared good, post the codes here.
Yup, went through this a few times, and while one of the times it was the battery it also had a bad ground (a connection under the battery tray).
If you had no problems before, the lights are dimming and you have a TCS problem now, its a pretty good sign that its the battery.
If that doesnt fix it, search for the multitude of posts on TCS issues, ground points or posts by Bill Curlee or c4c5 specialst, there are a ton of them already out there.
Once again, you probably dont have a TCS issue, but if you do find that you do, you may want to research it here before you go to the dealer who will happily change out your EBTCM for $1000 becuase the worst case scenario if you do it yourself is $150 to have it rebuilt.
