I love my interior with the mods (see a few posts up). It is relatively subtle and unless you know what was in there originally, I think it looks like it could have come that way, or at least should have. After reading back through this thread I think I missed the OP's point the first time.
..and I certainly agree that there are quite a few interiors on this forum that make me a little sick to my stomach with "ricer" stuff in the interior and enough colored, hideous, cheap a$$ looking parts to make them look like a clown exploded. Just not my taste at all. I'm sure the owners like them and I am also certain that there are people who dislike mine as well.
Let's see. The seats and doors are stock. I happen to like my console cover. And my wife made my door pulls, airbag pull, and emergency brake cover, and the thin red band in front of the console. I added the tiny, hardly noticable letters that say Corvette in red on the dash. Maybe I should have left the crappy original black mats in. The red mats might have been too much rice.
I promise I won't drive my car around yours or park beside you at car shows.
I only like Certain mods to the interior. Carbon Fiber stuff, or high end leathers, and of course Caravaggio seats
I do agree with the original OP in some ways alot of the forum cars can be a bit over done, especially in the engine compartment

Very nicely done.
I cruised this thread earlier and kinda bit my tongue mentally. I have also seen many other threads like this. First off to each there own. You own the car and if you are happy then awsome.
I guess here is my .02 cents. Overall...I do feel like the "Corvette after market" is a hit or miss when it comes to cosmetic mods both interior and exterior.
It seems like there is a lot of cosmetic mods that end up looking half a^*ed because an overall theme isn't carried through or an enitre car is one way and then BOOM a chrome liscense cover. Now I understand if people post photos of a work in progress.... no problem. But i do wish there was a more tasteful after market overall.

Too many people just open a catalog and start buying junk. You can really tell when someone has put in real time and effort to put together an over all look that works, wether it's custom pieces or just the right "accents" that make it work.
It's one of those situations were "you just know it when you see it." Nobody made the shift boot, and arm rest covers that I thought would go with the carbon fiber pieces so I waited to buy the carbon fiber pieces until I eventually found a company that would make exactly what shift and trim pieces I wanted, and in the end I feel like everything worked well together.
Many of the cars in this particular thread just work! And it is nice to see that!
The new C6 Z06's have removable roofs. Well slightly removable....
Not to get too off-topic, but that is one of the reasons why I never liked the 04 Z06s with the Z16 sticker package. GM replaced the subtle Z06 look with bling bling wheels and colorful decals all over the car. I guess it does look pretty for photoshoots when it's all cleaned up though.
What’s up with some C5 Z owners making their interior like what you would find in a ricer (. I have looked at 5 C5Z's in the past couple weeks and have found one of the following or more than 3 of the following.
Seat covers
Aluminum grills
Center console covers
Ugly shift boots that don’t match at all
Strobe lights
Clear corners
Euro looking tail lights that look like crap
What happened to the completely stock interior Z’s?
I guess I like the “Clean” look , I’ve done this to all my cars and seems to appeal to more buyers when selling it. I know I can change it and put it all back to the way it was but I guess I might have to start thinking that then
So you don't do anything to your cars? People modify everything to personalize it. Cell phones even offer personalized ringtones. Corvettes are no different. And whether or not you agree, it's their car.
I've never had a potential buyer say "Don't want it 'cause you put extra stuff on it."
mine is that my stock black interior is just that....too black. its like a sea of blackness. im still not doing anything crazy though. red letters for the script on the pass airbag, red stitching for the shiftboot and the chrome ring for the guages. small details (notice i said small details and not fiberglassing my dash and painting it the exterior color) like this can make a big difference and the lack is one of the reasons the vette interior is bagged on so much.
PS the interior is where a driver spends most of his time....might as well like it!
I agree that subtle small details can make a big difference, but I also agree that people can do whatever they want to their cars. I would like to do a few small details to the interior of my car. The black with red stitching shift boot sounds perfect! Where can I find that?? Vette Essentials only has the two-tone kind. I want subtle though. I'd like to get red letter inserts for the passenger airbag as well (letters that will STICK that is). Let me know your sources.
This thread has really got me ticked off. I didn't know there was a "mod" police force. If you don't like the way some people customize their cars, that is your privelege to dislike it. I just don't think it's necessary to insult other people's taste because it doesn't agree with yours. Owning a Vette and making it to your taste is everyone's right, regardless of what others think. Maybe people who customize their cars would say that people who don't are not capable of the imagination required to be individual, and that's why they're not capable of personalizing their own car. They accept it as it is. There might be some cars that are over the top and there are others that you couldn't find in a crowd because they all look the same. The point is, who asked anyone to post negative comments about other people's cars, when they weren't asked in the first place. I've always felt, if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all!
As far as whether or not my car is modded, appearance or performance wise, it's really none of anyone's business.
