Nice way to make new friends The price of gas has little effect on what we're going to sell out Corvettes for. If we were that concerned about the price of gas, then we never would have bought one to begin with.
With the economy and gas prices in the dumps why hasn't the price of Corvettes gone down? I think people with these cars will have to rethink whether they want to really sell them or not. Must of the cars in the C5 section are over priced by at least 10%. Come on guys and gals get real!!! I would like to buy a C5 but you have people who want over $20,000 for a car that has over 50,000 miles on it. Am I crazy or what??
Son...You havent seen an economy in the dumps...Let me tell you about 1979 when home interest rates were 18% It all comes with time my friend....Enjoy...
Ok 10% on 30,000 is what 3,000. If you feel the particular one your interested in is worth 10% less, make the owner an offer. They may feel that way too an accept your price. Or they may feel their property is worth every dime they are asking for it.
Corvettes traditionally don't depreciate like other vehicles. Although when we are in the market to buy one we wish they were, but when we want to sell it then we are not.
Remember that a Corvette get's close to 30 mpg on the highway. So gas prices are not a big factor here. People look at them and think high horsepower equals bad gas mileage but not true.
Make an offer or keep looking. What does places like KBB state the price ranges are for the year and mileage your looking at?
I thought there were a lot of Vettes priced high when I bought mine, but I kept looking until I found one for a real market price. I wasn't expecting the seller to go below market based on gas prices or what might be effecting some people in regards to the economy.

I think you're a little but aren't we all.You can't b*tch
about people's asking price it is what it is,don't take offense
just make an offer, the worst they can say is No.
Even though Corvettes lose value it is a lot slower
progression than other vehicles. If you really want a 'Vette
then maybe you need to look at a '84 or '85 'Vette instead
of a C5,you could get one as cheap as $2500,I've seen them out
there. Then you wouldn't have to negotiate so much
Just because you saw a few fly out on flea-bay for 'dirt cheap' don't get the idea in your mind that you shouldn't pay a dime more then they went for. How do you know the buyer didn't take deliver of his 'steal of a fleabay vette' only to find it wasn't in the shape he expected... not such a great deal after he has to spend some $$$ on new tires, fix maybe the window regulator, the weather stripping leeks so he had to pony up $ or live with it. The carpet in the trunk looks like somebody transported some potting soil in it etc. etc. I have heard the horror stories and talked with some guys I got friendly with at the dealership. They told me flat out they put the 'problem' cars on ebay just to dump them and forget about them. They put their creative writing skills to the test and stamp a nice disclaimer at the bottom and thats it.
Just remember cars sell for cheap on fleabay usually for a reason...
Doesn't mean you should go to the dealership and just bend over. Do your research and haggle best you can. It's a great feeling to get a deal but even a greater feeling to get what you want.

adjusted for inflation; it was worse in 1979 compared to now:
Why b*tch about the prices here? Go shopping if you find one you like make an offer....simple. Maybe you'll get lucky and find someone who needs the money now. Or maybe you just can't afford one.
Simply put*** How bad do you want one? If price is that big of a deal there are a few CHEVETTES STILL AVAILABLE...Throw the towel in and step up to the plate and get what you want.....
Hi, every now and then I hear someone complain about how the c5's out there for sale are overpriced. It is usually someone who would love to have one, and can't or doesn't want to afford it. Whether something is overpriced or not is a function of whether someone pays that price or not. If not, than the price will come down or the item will not get sold. Good old American supply and demand economics. So basically no corvette sold is overpriced, or it would not have been sold. I beleive the expression goes, IIWII, It is what it is. Now of course someone may ask a price that no one will pay, but if the car is to be sold, he will have to adjust the price to meet a buyers offer. It's up to you to negotiate the best fair price that you are willing to pay, and that the seller is willing to accept. And as far as Gas prices go, H*LL yes they are higher than anybody wants to pay, but the Vette shocks the H*LL out of me with the good mileage that it gets, considering the power it has. It beats all my other cars that are far less powerful. I may trade them all in on vettes.
Happy Vette Hunting.
