With the economy and gas prices in the dumps why hasn't the price of Corvettes gone down? I think people with these cars will have to rethink whether they want to really sell them or not. Must of the cars in the C5 section are over priced by at least 10%. Come on guys and gals get real!!! I would like to buy a newer C5 but you have people who want over $20,000 for a car that has over 50,000 miles on it. Am I crazy or what??

Ok 10% on 30,000 is what 3,000. If you feel the particular one your interested in is worth 10% less, make the owner an offer. They may feel that way too an accept your price. Or they may feel their property is worth every dime they are asking for it.
Corvettes traditionally don't depreciate like other vehicles. Although when we are in the market to buy one we wish they were, but when we want to sell it then we are not.
Remember that a Corvette get's close to 30 mpg on the highway. So gas prices are not a big factor here. People look at them and think high horsepower equals bad gas mileage but not true.
Make an offer or keep looking. What does places like KBB state the price ranges are for the year and mileage your looking at?

Well, it does if I keep my foot out of it........
You're right, I've got a 2000 4-Runner 6cyl, a 2001 Camry 4cyl, and the 2000 Vette, the 4-Runner gets the worst mileage, and all are very well cared for.
right now; those that can buy a Corvette aren't really effected by what's going on.
But I agree with you that a lot of cars are over priced.
curious; how one says that. Corvettes up for sale right now are there for a reason; the owner/dealer wants to sell them. If the prices are truly too high and negating the sale of the car... how does this benefit those wanting to sell ?
like others said; make an offer. For those not willing to wheel & deal... then you'll always pay more... but it's only fair to place blame on yourself. I have never paid asking-price on a used car purchase.
On Yvonnes recent purchase of a 2003 AE Vert with 5400 miles; the guy wouldn't budge on his price. Two days later we had a signed agreement for $6500 less. And everyone I know is this way; doing the same wheelin & dealin. I have no special talents in negotiating this.

Hmmm,
A total of 14 posts for the noOb, and this thread criticizes owners for selling their Vette's for an amount the market will bear
Maybe the Vettes are not overpriced as you state - it may be that you cannot afford one at any price
I guess I'm crazy . Just sold my C4. Told myself "I'm gonna take my time and find the right C5. Less than 48 hours later ,me and my brother in law were making a 10 hour round trip to purchase my 99 ss vert. 48K miles for just a tick over $20k. I'll post pics soon.
Since gas is getting/gotten terribly expensive, and corvettes get great mpg if wanted wouldn't the price go up generaly speaking?
Then again they arent meant for transporting people around either..................

The economy has little to do with the USED corvette prices, they cater to a different demographic.
Besides who lost their jobs recently? Most are still as employed as they were when "the economy was good".
I will pay top dollar (I have) for a low mileage Vette that has been VERY well taken care of. If you look at Corvette Palace etc.(did not buy there) they are all super clean low miles well maintained cars.
