I'd say I fall into Option 3 - Bolt on mods and minor repairs.

I voted 3 for now mostly because all my cars (3), truck (1) and bikes (2) have less than 35K on them and have not needed anything yet but maintanence. Back in the day we fixed anything and everything because we drove hundred dollar cars and couldn't afford to pay to get them worked on. Now I can afford to pay someone else to do my dirty work but picking up and dropping off is such a hassle, besides if you want it done right, do it yourself (with help from this forum of course). Probably should have voted for 4.

Option 3 but The Boss said that I need to fix the fuel gauge issue or she won't drive it anymore.

Guess she won't be driving.

I can do or will learn to do anything BUT WAX. That I would pay someone else to do.

I would rather watch paint dry, corn grow or my cat take a nap vs wax a car.

I've always felt that if a human put something together, I can take it apart and at least try to fix it..

I definitely fall into the minor repair category. If it is electrical, I am more willing to try it. For the difficult to access mechanical stuff (which seems to cover most), I will find someone else. But even then, I will go to the $tealer$hip after all possibilites have been exhausted.

While on the subject of repairs, if there is anyone in Southern California who has experience with the C5 faulty gas guage problem and can fix my gas gauge issue once and for all (I've already been through the Techron/Seafoam route), please PM me! I noticed there are 9 TSB's on the fuel system alone

I did everything to my car myself, from building the forged motor, beefing up the rear end, to all the paint and body including making the hood and ghost flames...

I am a newbie to this forum, but not to vettes. I am a pretty much anything goes kind of guy. For the really heavy stuff, I would try to draft my brother since he has a lift and a better set of tools.

T of T&C

PS I definitely have to get a avatar.

Probably a #3. I do as much as I can. I don't want to take my vette to anyone if I can help it. 178 thermostat, Granatelli exhaust, HUD, Donaldson Blackwing, carbon fiber air bridge, oil catch can, etc.
I've got rotors and pads on order. (Saturday I'll be changing pads on the wife's Mazda Mellinia)

In the past I've been pretty "hands off" because I didn't have the time or know-how to do a lot of stuff. After I sold the business, I had more time, so I started doing things like oil changes and some bolt-on mods. The info available on this forum for these projects is invaluable, and I have gotten the confidence to take them on. I recently undertook doing mods on my wife's '01 consisting of interior and underhood mods. Any big stuff will still go to the professionals.

Default I always do my own work..............

I could not recall the last time I have had a dealer do something to my cars. I do frequent specialty shops. But 90% or more is my own work as nobody cares as much for my stuff as me. When working on a car (vehicle) I look at everything not just the clock to get the car out of the shop. What do any dealership techs have that I don't? well if they do have it then I get it. I've been doing this kind of work for forty years.

Do mine own work, the only thing I would farm out would be the internals of a transmission but I would pull it.
