It was bound to happen as it's a daily driver. Caught a rock which left a silver dollar sized bull's eye in the glass on the driver's side just where the head's up display is reflected. I figure because it is at the insurance company's cost that I would let them try to fix it but I am sure I'll need new window glass. My car has a head's up display and I know that the glass is different with a head's up display option. I also know that there isn't much difference but I want to replace it with the correct glass. How can I tell if the replacement is the correct glass for the head's up display. Is there a serial number I can look for on the glass or is it simply by looking at the glass. I hope not the latter because when someone doesn't want to replace an incorrect part they get very poor eyesite.

There is a model number on the glass in the lower corner on the passenger side. It will also say HUD on the glass. If you tell the glass company that you have HUD and a coupe, they should be able to get the right windshield.
From what I've read though, the HUD works just fine even if you don't get the special HUD windshield.
In 2002 - Z06's and convertibles got special thinner (4.8mm)windshields.
Thank's I appreciate the input. They did the repair and it is OK. Now I have to see if I am bothered by what's left or if I should just wait until I come up to another rock. I seem to get them every few years. Best to all.
