Default C5 or C6

Ok I know I have said it before on how I perfer the C5 over the C6 and I would rather spend the money to mod the C5 but..... if your wife gave you the OK to trade in your C5 would you for a new C6 coupe ?
There is a dealership here selling C6 at a great price and I got a maybe out of the deal so I will check it out on Monday, I want to see the difference. Not sure if I want a car payment but a new C6 it would have to really impress me.

I'd say is the downside of a car payment worth the extra you'd get from a C6?

The upside is a new car with warranty against an ageing C5.

For me no. If the C5 is still reliable I'd stick. JMHO

Just mod your C5. You will have less money into the car than a C6 and it will be faster and quicker. You love the new power.

I'll keep my C5,love it,not done modding it,and it's paid for.

If I wanted a C6,I'd get one but,I don't right now.Plus I'd
get a C6 Z06,when the prices are more reasonable.

Even so,I'll hang on to the C5,this platform is a winner.

The 2008 C8 is head and shoulders above the C5. The new C6 has a lot more power and it’s much more refined. If I wanted to spend the money, I would get one. Right now I’m happy with my ’01 so I’ll stick with it. I prefer the look of the C5 over the C6, but overall the 2008 C6 is a much better car.

It just has to be YOUR decision. You can do the side by side comparison and make the decision. In my opinion, there is no right or wrong decision on this matter. Let's see, C5 or C6, either one works for me, it is YOUR CALL, and it will be thr fight call for you.

C5 = Paid off.

C6 = Payments.

And, if you are a Cash customer...thats a LOT of extra moola, you could spend less and have a KILLER C5, VERY custom and far cheaper...
Just remember, not everyone wants the latest greatest Corvette...I'm looking at C3's again! I realize the C6 is a nice car...but a classic C3 in the condition I'm looking for is only going to get harder and harder to find...and there will always be next years C6..or C7..Whatever floats your boat!

I agree too... don't want the car payments and doing some mods would be a lot cheaper. The C5 I am sure has a lot more room inside, I am still curious will check it out on Monday I will give my 2 cents then. Thanks again

I rented an 08 vert a couple a weeks ago when I was down in Florida. Nice to look at but, I wasnt impressed overall. The car was fast & had a nice ride, but too "cushy" for me. I hated the stupid paddle shift feature & kept it in regular automatic mode pretty much all the time.

I have a 02 Z06 & its a way better car than the C6 was. The C6 really is made for the target demographic.....55-70 year olds!!

I would probably trade for a C6Z....but anything else would be a lateral move imo.

IMHO the C5/C6 are pretty much the same as a SN95 fist generation mustang to a SN95 second generation. Me and a cooworket test dove a c6 convertible about a week ago, and I didn't feel the difference in the extra 50/horsepower, so just buy a ferrari instead

To be honest if you like the looks get the C6, it is overall a better car. The looks of the C5 is what really keeps most of us here.

A new C6 ('08) has 430HP.. the stock C5 coupe has 350 HP. Taint nothing wrong with 80 more HP. If I was getting a C6 and not a Z, I would get the base coupe/vert with enough options to get the side air bags.

If I was on the fence, between keeping my C5 and getting a C6, I would be getting the C6 as it sounds to me like your feeling like your current C5 is gettting long in the teeth anyway.

If you feel you can afford it, why not scratch that itch? You will have a great car either way.

For me I plan to keep my C5 Vert. It has more trunk space and better lines IMHO. I have no interest in the C6 for now, but not discounting it, or a C7, for the distant future.
