Early in the 2000 production year. The original Mag Red is a little darker.

I know GM made three...well four shades that were close to each other.
Lt. Carmine Red, Mag Red, Mag Red II, and AE Red.
AE I know was only offered in the 2003 Models, when were the other three offered?

Carmine Red was early-my dad's 98 is Carmine Red.
Mag Red I came after that and stopped in 2000.
Then it was Mag Red II.
Anniversary Red, which IMO is nothing like the other 3, was in 2003 only on the anniversary model.

My car is a 1999. The window sticker says it is Magnetic Red Metallic with Tint Coat.
Looks like they changed it to Mag Red II in 2000.

And Mag Red was not offered in 2003, but resumed in 2004.

From the 2001 window sticker it is "Magnetic Red MET W/Tint Coat"
They are all 86U so I presume it would be important to include the year model. Not sure where the I and II come in, it's not on the window sticker and the build sheet says 86U Magnetic Red.

BUT in 2001 is it Mag Red, or Mag Red II? When did it go from I to II, and is there a difference between the two colors?
From one Mag Red II to another, that background you chose to photo your car is very different and striking. Even though there is a lot of red tones in the photo (brick walls) it still looks very good! By the way, it sure looks like Mag Red from your photo's. Must be a historic part of town.
