A few months back I mentioned a local Vette shop rebuilt a C4 into a C5. It has a set of fixed projection lights set into the hood as the only "real" mod. The interior is all C4. It's for sale.
Here's a picture (ok, a LINK to the picture as I'm having trouble getting pictures to transfer from Photobucket...) of the C4 redone to look like a C5.
Most C4 to C5 convertions leave the fuel "fill" door in the stock location.
The shop that did the conversion is the top Vette repair shop in the state. This "may" be the owner's wife's vette...
i have driven by that shop before....didnt come across as a "top shop" by any means....
I even peaked in and didnt notice anything that impressive. I will give them credit for turning a c4 into a c5 look alike..kinda but still didnt look that great to me.

If there's one thing I miss about the C4's I've had it's the location
of the fuel filler area. You never had to stop and think about it
when you pulled in for fuel.
Somebody did a really nice body intergration, looks pretty good.
Great job but I don't see the point in that kind of mod. I can see why you'd put the retro body on a C5 chassis to get the better running gear but the other way around is lost on me
These were built using a kit sold ( I believe by) corvette america.
I almost bought one for my 1996 then decided to just trade it for a 2000 vert. So glad I did.

There were just two shops that specialized in repairing Corvettes here in Oahu. Now there is just one. So, by DEFAULT, this shop on Queen's St is the "top shop" for repairing vettes that have seen better days. I will venture to guest that this was a messed up vette, that rather than trash, the shop owner decided to have some fun with.
If you know of a better shop please let me know. I'd like to check them out. BTW: do you belong to the Corvette Club of Hawaii? We have a monthly meeting coming up next Tuesday (Apr 1st) and I'd like you to check us out.

i talked to dennis i think and i should be at the meeting.
Better shop for what? It all really depends on what i am getting done. I had a 99 Camaro SS that i have done everything on from engine builds to suspension to turbo kit...so most of the work i do myself. But i have misc shops i would go to.
Thanks for the invite...i dont work so i should be there but who knows what will come up.

The only thing I miss about the C4 was lifting the hood and having the wheel well go up as well. You could work on the engine without laying against your painted fender.

I hope Don informed you that they have changed the location to IHOP in Pearl City.
I guess we can toss around who has/where is the best "body" repair shop for Corvettes on Oahu at the meeting. I also need to know where to take my car for good, reliable, and resonable mechanicle work.

yea i was told where it was. I should be good. I am all with you on the best body shop. The pervious owner of my car hurt it bad and i want to get some spots fixed up so would love to know that. As far as mechanicle work...i only trust myself so that makes that one easy for me.
