I turn the TS on during the winter months, when it seems like I am driving in the dark to and from work all the time.. Then turn it off in the spring/summer months when it's light out when at least when I am heading home.
I have seen the setting to vary the timing for raising/lowering the lights but I don't see a way to change those numbers. If I could change how long it waits to come on, it may be possible to tune out the lights coming on in the garage every time, but I just don't see how that is done.
I have the TS option in my DIC, but I am unable to turn it off. I'm fairly certain I don't have a Canadian spec car, but why am I not able to disable TS in the DIC?
I have a Canadian C5, had the TS issue. By the way, I took my car to several dealers and was told it could not be reflashed. It always defaulted to metric, I switched the cluster out to a 200 mph and now it is not an issue. As for the Twilight Sentinel issue, here is a vendor that sells an easily installed resistor that will take car of the Canadian vettes.
On my 2001 ZO6, a Tech II was used to flash the BCM. When the menu asked if it is a Z49 option, just enter no.
Then the twilight sensor can be turned off with the DIC.
I do not get why you would pull the relay rather than just turning it off. I would love to find a way to keep the TS on, and not have it pop up in the garage.
Canadian car. Lights on whenever the car is running and ready to move (parking brake released). Legal requirement.

There is a light sensor on the dash that activates the headlights when the lighting is low enough. Mine come on in my garage all the time even when it is light outside - and then they go out in less than a minute once I pull out of the garage if the light is sufficient.
Hey Michael, after you've turned the feature on in the DIC, I believe the next screen is where you set the delay time for how long the lights stay up after enough light is detected.
That delay setting affects how long the lights stay on after you exit the vehicle. I'm sure of that. (I suppose it's possible that it also affects the light detector hysteresis but I doubt it.)

I did the same thing on my Canadian spec car and I don't have a problem with the Twilight Sentinel. Didn't have to install a chip or pull a fuse...
Mandatory Twilight Sentinel on a car with pop-up headlights that have a tendency to wear is stupid, stupid and stupid.

Not so. Canadian law is for day time running lights. We are talking about Twilight Sentinel. Japanese cars don't have TS; I think its a 'policy deal' that GM made with Transport Canada.

Can you tell me more about this install? I like the price of the part, just nervous about opening up things like that.....
You carefully pry the defroster grille from the dash, I used an old credit card. The twilight sentinel on mine was the small reddish sensor on the left side of the grille. The resistor is already set up with wires and snap connectors. You just attach one to each wire and tuck under the grille and snap the grille back into place. Takes 15-20 minutes at the most. You just need to be careful and patient when removing the grille so you don't scratch anything. You can remove at a later date to restore the twilight sentinel feature if you want. I installed it because I didn't want to remove a relay or fuse, and didn't want the wear and tear of the lights going up every time I started the car in the garage. My lights also popped up in the evening sooner than I would have turned them on. Also, I read on this post that you can reflash some of the Canadian cars. Mine is a '98, couldn't be done. That would also cost more than the fix that I used. Good luck!!

No you're right, I checked it. It controls how long the lights stay up after you turn off the key.
