Default 2000 Z06???

My son bought a 2000 Corvette Coupe a couple of months ago. It has the Z06 logo embroidered on the seats. Since Z06 was not manufactured during that year, we assumed someone replaced the original seats with their "dream".
Today my wife was shopping, so I went to the local bookstore and was thumbing through the Corvette books. I found a picture of a 2000 Corvette in two different books that also had Z06 embroidered on the seats. One of them stated the 2000 Corvette honored the original Z06 but did not elaborate how. I see no RPO code that states a Z06 emblem package was available.
I bought one of the two books, It is "Mike Yager's Corvette Bible". If anyone wants to see a picture, it is on page 254 and little blurry, but it is a Z06 logo on the seat.
Can anyone clear my confusion????

Why not. Could have been any number of things. Special dealer package etc. Interesting to find out what it is. I don't think the OP thinks he has a Z06 just a Z06 emblem on the seat.

The Z06s did not start till 2001....So a 2000 Z06 would be impossible...

First, is it a Fixed Roof Coupe?
Second, does it have red fuel rail covers?
Third, does it have vents in front of the rear wheels?
Fourth, does it have round exhaust tips with a light bronze muffler?
Fifth, does it have Z06 wheels?

The Z06s had Z06 stitched on the seats....So it sounds like someone decided to put the Z06 seats in their coupe....which really makes no sense, due to the fact it is the same as the base seats and the sport seats are much more supportive.....

Post pics of your sons car...

Thanks!

If it is a true Z06, your son has one very rare car. They did not make Z06s in 2000, just the FRC.

Default this is interesting...

love to see where this goes. Does the owner have a VIN or something for anyone to checkout?? Is there anything that couldn't have just been added on to look like a Z06 that would be a give away that is in fact a true 2000 Z06. Anyone can buy the red fuel rails or the rims or the muffler. Is there anything "unique" to the Z06 which can't be after marketed???

Default Ahh, actually ................

Actually the C5 ZO6 was produced in 2000. As early as July 2000. True the model year was 2001. I had this discusion with an owner who showed me the production date on his door, sure enough , something like August 2000. Proof ( in his eyes).

Sir , first off there are no ZO6 coupes at all. Second the model year was 2001 ( I have one). Sorry.

You are making it very confusing to folks...

ALL Corvettes start the year before the model year. Production starts in July for the next model year. 2009 Corvettes will start rolling off of the line in July of 2008.

What he has is a 2000 Coupe with Z06 seats.

That reminds me of the time I called WCC for something or another. I was asked what year & model, I replied "A '97 vert" (meant to say '98). The voice on the other end of the line said "Sir, you have a million dollar car"!

Thanks for all the responses. I have not been able to contact my son yet for his VIN number, but will get it tonight.

Yes, this is a 2000 model year.

No, this is not a Z06, I am pretty sure it is an LS1 engine.

Yes, it is a coupe with the Targa top.

I started this thread because I saw two books with model year 2000 Corvettes that had seats that also had Z06 embroidered on them. From the responses, it seems that no one else has seen a 2000 Corvette with the Z06 logo embroidered on the seats. Is that correct???

That is correct....

All Z06s from 2001-2004, 2006-current have Z06 embroidered on them...Like I said someone replaced the stock or sport seats with the Z06 seats (which is just a standard seat with the logo)...

For those that are interested, the VIN is 1G1YY22G1Y5106899. This would indicate the LS1 engine.
My son is sending me the RPO codes tomorrow.
I know this is not a Z06. That has always been obvious. What I am confused about is the seats. I had always assumed the seats were added by a previous owner until the other day. I saw two published books with pictures of 2000 model year cars with Z06 seats. So, there is one of several choices:
1. The books I looked at need serious editing of their pictures for accuracy of captions.
2. The books I looked at, by coincidence, happened to contain pictures of 2000 Corvettes where an owner put Z06 seats in a 2000 model year Corvette after it was purchased from the factory. Maybe this was popular at some time. I can't imagine why, but everyone has their own tastes in mods even though they may not be as good as mine!
So, my basic question is: has anyone else seen a 2000 Corvette with Z06 seats?

Default Confusing?

Adam Boca; gr8corvette starts with "2000 ZO6?" Let's not make assumptions that gr8corvette knows anything about production dates and model dates, the ZO6 or in fact anything about Corvettes, shall we. Particulary since nobody here has any idea what gr8corvette's knowledge base is. Adam Boca, do you take it for granted that everyone has your depth of Corvette erudition?

To simply point out how one could make( and as I point out, has made) a mistake from the obvious production date tagged on the drivers door is not adding to confusion but rather not making assumptions as to what gr8corvette and his son has knowledge of. So that we establish first what year the car is.

Check the instrument cluster, does it say Z06 anywhere, probably not.
