Battery - Mail Order

I found a good deal on a battery from a catalog house. I have never purchased a battery mail order, as I always buy local. (Costco, Sears, etc) I am concerned about possible shipping damage to the battery case or posts.

Anyone have a battery shipped to them?

Any worries/problems/experiences to report?

I bought my Optima a few years ago from LAPD. It was shipped from California to Maryland without any problems.

I have never ordered a car battery but have ordered several motorcycle batteries over the years with NO issues because of shipping...I would think you would be fine

Wouldn't shipping of a 40# battery negate the savings over buying locally?

I would not risk getting a battery by mail unless there was no other way to get the battery I wanted locally.
Surely, there are local dealers for the battery you want.
