Default 2002 Vert Private Party Pricing

I have, in the last 2 days, twice been asked if I wanted to sell my C5. One guy stopped me in a parking lot and gave me his business card.

Anyone have opinions as to what a fair asking price would be for a private party sale? Searches have been anywhere from $28.5K to $31K.

2002 torch red/ebony convertible, 32,500 miles, 6 speed, F45 suspension, fully loaded with every GM option, including 12 CD changer. Polished aluminum wheels. Never hit, never raced.

New OEM Goodyear runflat tires last fall, less than 1,000 miles on them.

Mods:
Hurst short throw shifter
Z51 sway bars
Painted calipers and rotor hats
SS breaklines
CAGS

Repairs and maintenance:
New ECBM
Gas gauge sensors will be replaced within the next 2 weeks
New synthetic brake fluid
New synthetic transmission fluid
New synthetic clutch fluid

If you can get 28-31, and the important part is if you want to sell, grab it.

Remember you aren't necessarily wanting to sell it; they want to buy it so price it high; I don't think 30,000 is unreasonable if you aren't necessarily wanting to sell. Maybe price it a little higher.

Heck Make it $40,000.

But be careful. There have been guys who make these kind of offers. You settle on a price, He gets you a cashiers check from a reputable bank.

You say COOL, sign over your title and go deposit that new big cashiers check. Three days latter your back calls you and tells you the check is bogus. and the buyer is no where to be found.

IMHO any private part sales must be done buy wire transfer

Good Luck

Hmmmmm, I just sold my 2002 Quicksilver convertible, loaded, 60k miles, new tires, for $32K....I bought it brand new and it was garage kept all it's life...It was an exceptional car despite the miles it had......After I sold it I turned right around and bought a triple black 99 Vert with 40k miles, also loaded and new tires, for $23K (had to have a Vert in the family!!)...I dumped another $2K into it to get it up to "my standards" (mainly paint) not that it was in that bad of shape, but it certainly didnt look like my 02 did....I came out of the deal $7K ahead, which made a nice downpayment on my new C6 Z-06
Funny thing is, after the guy that I bought the 99 from saw it after I was finished with it, he wanted to buy it back.....and offered me $30K!!!....Sorry Charlie...it's not for sale....not yet anyway!!
If your car is exceptional, put an exceptional price on it....If you WANT to sell it, that's one thing...If you HAVE to sell it, that's entirely another!!

If you can get anywhere from 28.5K to 31K, jump on it. That would be a heck of a price.

The value of any car -- including our Vettes -- is established by what someone is willing to pay. NADA and KBB are "price guides," and there are variables to every car under consideration. Where you reside on this planet also plays a part. (That's one reason why NADA and KBB on the net always ask for your zip code.)
