Default Unbeeeleeevible.............

Thanks to all of you on the forum! I recently purchased an 03 Annv. vert 6-speed. I thought it rode a little rough and thanks to suggestions by those here on the forum I decided to jack er up today and check the shocks. Yep.... you guessed it.... after 40k miles I pulled out the 4 shock stuffers today. Rides like a dream now !!!

Thanks all ! Howie Shelton CT

Good for you, and bad for those poor slobs who owned it for all that time.

There's definatly some great info here. I can't count the number of times I've searched a topic then glance at the clock and notice I've been reading for three hours!

Enjoy the new ride.

Being my first Corvette I was trying to overlook the awful ride thinking "they must all ride like that". But thanks to the forum I just had to check. That sure must have been an awful 40k miles riding like an absolute brick ! Great dealer prep huh ??? I cannot believe the difference now....... I'm smiling !

It's a "stuffer" that was put in the shocks to limit suspension travel during transport. If you want to check yours look under the boot of your shocks. If you see a yellow tag or ribbon pull it and the stuffer will come out.

The F55 ride option had shock stuffers installed under the dust boot of each shock to hold the car up while it was strapped down on the delivery truck. they were supposed to be pulled by the dealer when the car was delivered. Since it was a new thing lots of dealers didn't pull them.

Sort of funny though. For 40K, probably the other owner had no idea and complained about them. Doesn't that mean your getting hardly used shocks now?

Anyone have a picture of what these look like? I may go see if my car has them, though I doubt it does. Oh and this is an awesome place for help and information. +1 for Corvetteforum!

Congrats on getting the '03 and finding out the problem. Amazing that no one noticed the stuffers in there.

they look like white plastic strap hanging from the boot of the shocks. I think they were used only in those with the magnetic ride option for the 03 and 04 models. I too had them when I bought my AE.
