My friend was going to buy that car, when he found out it was repainted he changed his mind.

Only the nose was repainted. I'm glad your friend didn't buy it. I got a super car for a fantastic price. His loss, my gain.

I think it was a perfect deal.
Its quite common that the nose on these is repainted. The cars are low, its easy to dip them out and have foreign objects hit them there on the freeway. No big deal, my friend got his 03Z and the nose was also repainted. He paid $31000 for his with 35000 miles on it though.
I wouldnt worry about the nose being repainted.

Former owner is a different story considering you never used vaseline....

I was just talkin to the seller. He said he didn't show the car to anyone else. I was the only one that had the car looked at. So how your buddy was going to buy the car without seeing it is beyond me. Quite trying to stir up ****.

I purchaced my 01 Z for $28000. with 30000kms , and with 10000$ in engine mods , with all reciepts from a reputable shop. I thought it was an amazing deal , Ive had the car for 3 months now and Love it , I figured I'd be spending alot of money on mods anyways. So this actually saved me money.

Car was only driven 2000 miles in last 3 years. He moved to a new city & had no room to keep car. The only concern I have is the original tires. I think I can deal with that for now. Flying down next week to bring her home.

purchased a 04 from a dealer with 14,400 miles on it for $37,600 4 months ago. Mint condition with $16,000 in upgrades. Magnuson charger, kooks longtube headers, x pipe, b@b exhaust and black wing intake. The previouse owner even upgraded rotors and breaks and installed braded brake lines. Even had chrome rims, that Kerbeck corvettes had chromed when it was new. Many engime components including the super charger were chromed out as well. Spent 9 months looking but good deals are out thier.

Would have purchased this car this week:

http://woodfieldchevy.com/2002-chevr...-zo6-c-615.htm

$35,900.

Forum member sold a 5,900 mile BLK/BLK 02 Z within the last month in my zipcode for $30K.

Dealer in Ohio is offering me BLK/BLK/RED 02 Z with 8.900 miles for $30,800.

Electron Blue, although not rare by any means, is highly desired. Dealer thinks the car I linked is worth nearly $36K.
I even discussed 8,900 mile car for 5K less, he said mileage offsets the delta, and that I don't get that?!?!

I offered him the opportunity to attribute price to overhead, profit concerns, etc COMPLETELY REASONABLE (which I will fully accept) He continued to stress the car's worth, and that I didn't understand that.

To me it seems that some folks are aware of the true value of these cars, and others are still struggling with the fact that their car may now be worth 50% of what they paid just a few years ago....

Jerry
Yes..prices are all over the place for C5...some people have very
unrealistic prices but occasionally an impulse buyer will come along
and overpay which gives the other sellers hope and so they
keep their high prices and don't lower and hence don't sell.

But cars aren't an investment that goes up...they go down..
especially if Chevy keeps bumping up the HP numbers when
C7 comes out. If that happens C5 prices will take another dive.
So if you have a ZO6 w/ low/medium mileage at 25-28K today
and drive it 2 years and add 30K miles to it...well..
it could be worth alot less (1/2 ?) when C7 is announced.

Your C5 price estimates are pretty good though..keep in mind
the KBB is usually an overvalued number and not real world.

So, I found one older dude in Ventura county that had an 03 Z06 with 11000 miles for sale posted for $34000 a year ago. The car was perfect and so was its history. It was the original owner, no stories or accidents with a clean title.
He just got the 07 Z06 so he just wanted to get rid of the C5Z.
I got it from him for $33000 with full documentation, all paperwork and a carcover.
The deals are out there, look around and you will find it.
Thats not a deal!! but thats just me.

Just cause a car has low miles doesn't mean anything. So the car has 8k on the clock, How do you know that 6k of them wasn't put on at the dragstrip?

When my friend first saw the ad he got all excited and was ready to jump on that car. After emailing the owner several times and hearing that the car was repainted he lost all interest. He didn't care how nice the car was, its still been repainted and to him a car thats been repainted is worth less.

Glad it worked out for you, good luck.

I looked at a lot of Zs before I purchased an EB 2002 with 3000 miles for 33,500. I could have gotten lots of them for several thousand less, but color, mileage, and mods make a big difference. A car with lots of mods and new tires at under 12,000 miles tells the whole story.
If you want silver, red, or black, there are lots more to choose from.

Just be happy with the deal you got and enjoy it.

Very True.

I recently looked at a 2004 Mustang Cobra with 3400 miles. While looking at the car I noticed a set of slicks and a roll cage hiding under a blanket in the side of his garage. When speaking to the owner he told me the car was his baby, never raced or molestered. Yeah right.

You can find some amazing vehicles out there for sure. Purchased my 2003 ZO6 with 18,000 miles, one owner, all stock, from a Chevrolet Dealership, certified preowned from GM, 5 year/100,000 mile warranty for $33,000 with tax. New York State tax of 8.25%. Couldn't be any happier!
