Default iPhone car adapter

OK, I've done a search and think I have an idea of what I need.

I have an iPhone, and it works find on a Kenwood adapter I have in my Suburban with an aftermart Kenwood head unit. It does not allow me to use the iPod controls when plugged in. When I plug it in, it says "this device is not made to work..., would you like to go to airplane mode." I just say no and continue on. I can leave it plugged in and still use the other functions of the iPhone, but to change tracks etc it must be done with the head unit.

Now, onto the C5...

I have the factory CD changer with the Bose head unit, and from what I've read, this makes things easier. I basically take the changer out, plug in an ipod2car, and then run the 12' cable under some carpet to the front of the car where the iPhone will be. I think I need the PXHGM2 cable to connect the ipod2car into the CD changer cable, or does this cable come with the ipod2car? The nice things is, I won't have to get behind the head unit at all.

My main question is, has anyone tried this setup with the iPhone to confirm it works? And if it does, does it allow me to use the rest of the functions of the iphone while plugged in?

I bought the ipod2car, it comes with the cable for plugging into the factory CD changer. It's a nice 8 foot cable that I ran under the carpet directly to my front console. It works perfectly with the Iphone, and you can use the internet and everything else while the Iphone is plugged in. Plus the cable charges the phone as well.

The stock radio unit will advance the songs, but it's sketchy at best, and doesn't always work. I just use the front Iphone screen for controlling the music, with no issues. The iphone occasionally causes static on the radio, due to interference, but otherwise it's not any different then using an ipod.
