Head light on one side goes up and down with no problem. the other will go up fine, but when it lowers back down it keeps spinning the motor after its down. I have to stop the motor by hand? What is wrong with this thing?
It's a stripped headlight motor gear. GM puts cheap plastic gears in the motors that WILL strip over time. It's a relatively easy fix. Go to www.rodneydickman.com and buy a set of brass headlight gears. This will fix your one headlight and prevent the same from happening to the other side. There are a myriad of posts on this subject if you're looking for more info.
-when you get the motor open clean out the little gear box good.
-when you get the headlight cover and side cover off take out the two little screws on the side of where the headlight pivots. Then you can drop it down below and get to the motor easy. Remember the position of the lever to the motor and the headlight. Clamped mine overnight and don't forget to put the T brace on that comes with the kit.
