Default C5 modifications

I bought my first corvette (a stock 2004 coupe automatic) two months ago. What modifications (cosmetic or performance) should I consider first? My first priority is to increase some HP but I would also like to explore cosmetic changes as well. Thanks.

Congrats! May you have miles of smiles... and don't forget to wave :

Intake/exhaust/Stereo --- some performance stuff is always good... but you'll enjoy your stereo everytime you get in

Cosmetics are wheels, body kits, hoods...etc

Mod bugs bite a lot of ppl around here...

Four yrs...

Install an LS9 from the new ZR1 - it will make all of the other mods seem like minor details!

Welcome to the club! My serious advice is to sit down and decide where you want to be with this car. Do you want appearance or performance or both? Figure out a theme for appearance mods and then stick with it.

Congrats!

Mods - whatever you do, BEFORE you start making changes, make sure you make out a list of where you are and what you are looking to accomplish. If your looking for more HP - make sure you know what your end goal is.. in other words how are you going to use the car and what will you be happy with (better street driving, better track, hpde's, etc..) Also depending on how far you want to go with performance, you also need to look at what that does to your reliability and maintenance statements.. Tires for instance.

If you have mod questions - ask them here as someone probably been there don that with almost anything you want to do to the car.

I see you have an automatic. I would suggest gears. Best bang for the buck, doesn't change look, tons of enjoyment, and the rest of the mods can be done as you research where you want to go. I have not had even the slightest regret.

For real HP you have to go big. All the "little" or usual stuff like cold air intakes, catback exhausts, etc. won't get you too much HP increases. Maybe a nice catback with some LT's and a tune would be your best bet for HP without going into the engine.

Other stuff is whatever you like, hood, body kits, audio, other little things, interior, seats, etc.

Just keep looking around these forums and see what you like.
Good luck.

To keep things simple I would do this.

Headers and x pipe: $600
Ti Catback: $400
Vararam: $300
Tuning: $300

All of that for about $1600 if you do the work yourself. I would imagine with those mods you would drop 3/4 of a second off your stock times.

Just start by throwin a Billy Boat exhaust on it and it will make you feel like its a racecar. The sound is headturning as you drive down the street. Rims and a rear spoiler are also nice add ons. Its a very quick car as it is, it all depends on how fast you want to go.
