I did a poll/survey on this subject a couple of months ago and the overwhelming answer was folks plan on keeping their C5's for 5 years or more

When I weigh all the factors... cost, money put into my C5, performance, styling, paid-off vs. payments, etc... the C6 just doesn't tip the scales for me. I'm happy driving my reliable C5, and driving a C6 isn't going to make me any more happy. So for now I don't have any burning desire to have a C6. Maybe the C7 will move me more, maybe it won't.

That all said, if heaven forbid my C5 got totaled, stolen, or whatever and I found myself with a $20K insurance check in hand, I would probably buy a C6 instead of another C5.

I plan on keeping my C5 and once it's paid off maybe add a C6 to my stable or even a C7.

A lot of the people that buy a C6 come back here and post that they wish they kept the C5 and never got the C6. The C6 has some new features that you can just add to the C5 like navi, seats, power, etc. I think some people at this point are just waiting for the C7 now and are going to skip the C6 gen.

Test drive a C6 and see if it's really for you.

There's a pretty current thread about just that. The C6 owner who's looking to get back in a C5 said something to the effect of "...If you were blindfolded and went for a ride in my C6 you would think you were in a sports sedan..." Also agree on the C7 thoughts.

I like the C6 but Im not going to trade my C5 for it. Well I would if I could get a really good deal on the ZR1 but thats not going to happen. Besides my C5 is almost paid off. I might add a C6 to the stable later on though.

Keeping my '03 only 7K on it . I just finished some mods last year & want to do headers yet. I have been tossing around the idea of a C5 Z06 to have along w/my 03. I dunno....time will tell.

You have to do what feels right to you. Personally, I don't pay too much attention to what others do - I'm sure they have their reasons for doing what they do.

I've owned my C5 for going on five years, and it still makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel to drive it. Maybe it's because I don't drive it daily, maybe it's because I spent thousands of dollars to make it mine through mods - either way, I don't see what benefit upgrading will give me.

I have a relatively new car that I use for my daily driver - that I own outright (no payments). Being an '07 Cadillac, it has all the luxury and features a new C6 would have (navigation, XM radio, On-Star, great interior, great ride, reliability etc.) I know it's no Corvette, but when I feel the need for speed - the C5 still trips my trigger.

What’s not to like about a C5 if it looks good, runs good and it’s paid for? I’m happy with my C5 and I plan to keep it. I’ll wait for the C7 and see what that’s all about.

I faced a simular choice less than 2 months ago,I had a2 year old mustang convertible I bought new, that just wasn't cutting it for me. I looked at the c-6 and after comparing prices, power, looks, it was the c-5 for me . I went from a 05 ( late model) mustang with 46, k on the clock to a 2002 convertible with 30k on the clock.

Im happy to be in the vette world
then

now

I'm keeping both the C4 & C5.

Besides, I really don't like the C6 looks (yet)

You can't worry about what other people are doing. Like my Father used to say, "What, if everyone else is jumping off of a cliff are you going to do it too?" Me, I'm keeping the C5!

Don't take this the wrong way but when I can find the right C6Z06 at the right price, "Old Slik" is history. I will strip him down, have one hell of a parts sale and move on!!

I do love the C5, but at some point regardless of what anyone says most of us will move on!

Just my .02

While I would like to have a C6, just can't justify the huge price difference between my C5 and a new C6. My C5 is up for sale now, but I really do not plan on getting a C6 at this time.

I would say keep the C5. It is just as good. I have had both. Now if you sell off your C5 for different reasons and want to get back in then get a C6 100%

I still have 3 1/2 years left on my gmpp, with no plans while that's in force.
