Default Turning off auto lights

Question guys i have a 2000 corvette and i hate when the lights flip up and come on. I want to be in control of turning ligts on and off. Example start car in garage head lights come on back out, lights go off.Is my only way to take it to the GM dealer and get them to disable this or do i buy this thing called a defeat device. You would sure think there would be a on off switch for this.

You have a Canadian car, there is no way to simply turn them off. You can pull a fuse, not sure which one it is on your year car, or you can buy a pre-made resistor, which I did, and it works great. Here is the link:

http://www.corvettegadgetman.com/

It is an approx 30 minute install, you pry up the grill at the back of the dash and attach the wires from the resistor to the wires on the twilight sentinel sensor with clips supplied with the resistor, then tuck into place and put the grill back on. You have to be somewhat careful when prying the grill up, I used an old credit card. It just takes a little time and patience. Good luck!

I wonder if pulling that fuse, if it effects anything else? I just looked at my manual and fuse 20 under the hood is showing Blank

Your vette has the twilight sentinel option. If it was originally a Canadian vehicle you cannot turn off this option. I guess you will have to follow the previous postings to pull the fuse.

The fuse that has to be pulled is under the floor mat. It's either #24 or #42, I don't remember. I'd have to pull the carpet up and look.

Once it's pulled, no more automatic pop-up and you have to turn the lights on and off by hand.

RonJ ...

I went out and looked, it's Micro Relay #44 under the carpet.

Steve,
I went out to the shop, lowered the 01 on the hoist and pulled the carpet.

It's Micro Relay #44, which by the owners handbook is for the Automatic Lamp Control Headlamps.

You might have to wiggle and pull, it does come out.

Once I removed mine, I wrapped it up, wrote #44 on it and left it along side the fuse panel under the "door" just so I wouldn't lose it.

And Eric, it's on the passenger side under the toe board.
