Last night I was at a popular restauraunt where I live and the lot is Valet only (I know the valet so I trust him with my car). I have a great meal and come out and give the valet my ticket. There was a line of people waiting to leave so it is going to take a minute. I am about 4th in line. So while I am waiting I notice two 4 year old girls running around and playing tag around my car and sitting on the hood. That is not acceptable to me at all. So I approach the parents (by the way I am 24, so relitively young) and ask very if they could please make sure that thier kids don't touch my car anymore and that I would apreeciate it. They both look at me for a moment and then burst out laughing in my face! Then the get silent and ask me "oh are you actually being serious?" I replied, yes of course I was being serious! Then then ask me how a spoiled rich boy can afford a car like that and if that is even my car. (I pay for it myself, no help since I was 18) Then they say I will remember this moment when I am an adult and have children and I will feel like an azz****. They said I was completly out of line to tell them what to do with thier kids. Then there mini van pulls up and they leave. I am still angry about it so I just had to get it out.
Unless you left out the part of the story where you started dropping F-bombs and cursing them up and down, you're a better man than I. I would have lost my mind. Your story made me mad just reading it.
KEEP YOUR DAMN KIDS OFF MY STUFF!!! AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH
You're not alone brother. If my wife was here with me she'd agree too.

I have never had anything like that happen to me, but I feel your pain. Some people don't know how to be parents and teach their children to respect other's property. I don't think you were out of line at all in approaching the parents. I'm 38, and when I was a kid, if I did something like that my Mom would have tore me a new one. Besides, I think they were just jealous of you cause they have rugrats and drive a mini-van
...Then they say I will remember this moment when I am an adult and have children and I will feel like an azz****. They said I was completly out of line to tell them what to do with thier kids...
And parents that just let their kids run around the planet doing whatever and raising hell **** me off!!! Some people might not want to hear their snot nosed little devil spawn squeaking, giggling and screaming around the place. My answer to that is to begin speaking in only four letter words in a loud voice so the children have no choice but to hear it. Either the parents will want to remove their kids from your presence or the kids will get upset and start crying. Either way you win.
The lesson learned here is that I'm sure what you will remember when you have kids is too teach them RESPECT for other peoples property...hope they didn't scratch your car.
I would have loved to have been you for those 2 minutes.
It would have been a very memorable evening for that couple...
I like what you said to them.
If those kids were sitting on the hood of my car, I would not have asked the parents to get the kids off the car I would have TOLD the kids to get away from it.
The parents obviously have no repsect for anything and I'll guarantee they are slefish people. Too bad their children are going to grow up in the same mold.
I run into this all the time at shows. Most parents will have respect for your car but some will let their kids run amuck. I had one kid run his hot wheels car over the nose of my car. Another teenager sat on my rear spoiler. When I told her to get her butt off my car she said "my Uncle lets me sit on his" I told her to go sit on her Uncle's car then. It's the parents-not the kids that get me angry.
That's the problem these days, parents are not acting like the role models they should be for their children. They'll do what you tell them to do until their teens, then they'll do as you do.
It's a shame these parents don't see any value in respecting other people's property, especially an expensive sports car. I wouldn't care if it was a junker car the kids were playing on. I would still not allow the kids to do that if I didn't own it. They said you were out of line to tell them what to do w/ their kids, but the sad thing is that you had to say anything in the first place. Clearly some jealousy as well w/ the rich kid comment regarding your vette. I suspect these are some very unhappy people in general and you happened to be available for them to dump on. You handled this very well in that you didn't return their bad behavior with the like. Good for you to be so well composed through that disagreeable moment. Sorry you had to deal with this scenario. Really ruins an evening! Now go drive your vette and shake it off.

I actually feel a little bad for the kids... with parents like that, what chance to they have to grow up to be good people? It's amazing how a lot of parents these days want to blame everyone but themselves for their children's actions.
Yet I do still see a lot of other parent's doing a really good job with their kids, so there's hope...
My son is 7 and he knows not to mess around ANY cars not just the nice ones. It takes 2 min to teach them a little respect. I cant believe how parents let them run amok with no concern for anyone else. I would have lost my mind if I were you.

As Chemdawg99 said, if I did something like that my Mom would have tore me a new one... Not to mention what dad would have done when he got wind of it..... Never could out run him...
