for awhile after car came up to temp and when i came to a stop i could smell oil burning not bad but noticeable. well today i was going to clean my throttle body for something to do. and after removeing the factory plastic ribbed looking duct that goes to throttle body. i noticed some oil laying on bottom of plastic duct. and i opened the valve on throttle body to inspect and outside was pretty clean on inside it was quite oilly covered i thought. i'm guessing this isn't normal. what would cause there to be oil on throttle body and is this bad for motor. and what fix would be in order. car is a 98 and has 75,000 miles on it. and runs rather well i think. any input???
LSx engines are known for oil misting in the rockers..
the mist carries over and gets deposited in the throttle body, intake ando on piston heads...
Many install an oil catch can to minimize this issue.
get a hold of chip ( willfulone ) and order your catch can
oak
Must have getting a catch can for our LS based motors, got one on my boosted setup and it works wonders, last fall took off the throttle body to clean it better and no oil in my intake
