Buying a used hypertech programmer ????

Default Buying a used hypertech programmer ????

Just wondering if there is something i should know before purchasing a used power programmer 3 for my 1999 ?
Is the vin entered into the programmer and if so can it be erased.
Any info please. thanks

programmer has to be cleared to stock !!! when you plug it in your car it will read vin and other info to start programing for you car

yeah you should know they are junk and you will get zero gains. the only thing they are good for are fan reprogram. thats all.


each motor is different. that is why a custom tune is the way to do it...no local shop near you ?? then go for a mail order tune for 150.00. Alot of tuner shops are available to you

The tuner works by swapping its program with the OEM program in the PCM. If the person selling the programmer hasn't returned the car to the OEM tune you are buying his OEM tune not the Hypertech tune.

Bought one for a 95 Z28 I had. What a complete waste of money wont buy any of their products again.

If your car has had any of the recalls or computer reprogrammed it will not work, until it is reprogrammed by the factory at a huge expense. Get a tune.
