It absolutely blows me away that people like this tire
I had them for 16k miles and couldn't wait till they were gone.
I did not like the WO at all and as far as I'm concerned you couldn't pay me to put them on my car again.
Oh yea, not only do they "look" more narrow then pretty much any other 295 out there.............they ARE more narrow that any other 295 out there...................Never Never again

I agree. I am not impressed with my Firestoners.

I will be ordering Kuhmo MXs soon.

I have had my Wide Ovals for about two weeks now and they seem ok. Like stated before, they look a little more narrow than the GY SC's and the Toyo T1 R's(or whatever they were called 2-3 yrs ago) that I have had on the car before... I think dry traction is about equal between the T1-R's and the WO's (SC's were pretty bald when I got the car), but the edge go's to the WO's when driving in water. I was a little disappointed with the looks of them when I picked up the car, but that seems to be the only downside so far. I will probably try a different tire next time.

Firestones WO are OK tires, based on what you pay. If you want a decent lower cost tire that is good for DD ( longer tread life ) and rain, it is a good deal. If you want max performance tire, are willing to give up tread life ( so not a DD ) and cough up more green, then there are several good choices. I prefer the Pilot Sport PS2, but to each their own. For what it is worth, I have also tried the Khumos and they are a sticky tire and have a reasonable cost. Only down side from my experiance is poor treadlife. I do not remeber how they were in the rain, but I do not remember any incidence of note with them in the wet.

I have them on my 02 Z.... I have 3 track events on them .... and about 5K miles on the street.... No issues at all ... .They have been good for 20 to 30 minute session and just seem like a great tire for the cost. I will be using them at the NCM VIR event as well this June :-)

While I don't have these myself, I will next time around if I stay with stock rim sizes.........till then I am praying that GY will bring this tire out in a 345/19........if they don't it will probably be the Invo's for me.

I've had them for a year and I hate them in the dry but love them in the wet. It is so hard to launch them good. The B.F.G's are an easy hook up in the dry. My next tire will be GY D3's or B.F.G. KDW's.

I do not understand the point of your reply to me...?...This isn't about slicks........and I'm not even knocking Firestone's in general..........it's the Wide Oval that I feel is a crap tire.......as far as Firestone goes, my only issue is that they lied about the size of their 295 (and maybe others), well and the fact that their WO sucks.

What didn't you like about the performance of the tire? Looks really don't matter.

Traction for one thing.........it's a great drifting tire I suppose.
Car wouldn't hold a steady line on the highway, back end couldn't settle in or out of the ruts on the road.
The only tire that I have had hydro plane and try to put me in the lane next to me (active handling saved my but on that one)......not saying that another tire wouldn't have in the exact same conditions/place on the road, but to this day it's the only one that has.
I simply do not like this tire and feel that it is very far down the line in comparison to other choices, and that includes for the price.

Hard to believe you had wet traction problems. As I said in my post I ran all through the Katrina downpour at the Glen (deep puddles/streams running across the track) with no hydroplane problems at speeds over 100 mph. Maybe you had the tire pressure too low.

As for the tire tracking in the ruts that is an alignment problem.

If it rains I will be running them next week at the Glen.

I have no wet traction problems and I have no problems with the car tracking a straight line at all, if the road is crowned it might pull a bit but heck my F150 will do the same. For me I can not see spending extra money just to have an appearance of a wider tire or for performance that might be 'there' but in all probability I will never push the tires beyond what they are capable of. I do not track the car and for how I drive it I like the tires and would buy them again.

What was the temperature when that happened.? As others have stated, it is not a good cold weather tire. I like them, for the price, as a summer tire. In the colder weather, around Oct, Nov here in CT,
the traction is not so good. A cold day with wet leaves and road surface, could definitely ruin yout day, if your not careful. From what I've read, the Goodyears aren't any better in these conditions , and neither tire was designed to be.

The hydro plane only happened once and it was in summer weather if I'm not misstaken (but was at night) at about 55mph.
Wet weather was not by biggest issue............dry strait line traction sucked as far as I'm concerned, not to mention sliding around corners was very easy (made for a fun summer I guess, but not what I was after).
As far as the alignment thing, WRONG!!! did not have that issue with the F1's or the Falkens that I have now.

I do not like the WO! Period, never will..........I'm just surprised that so many do.

PS2's here. They are a great tire when comparing street tires.

Good for you, point blank I just do not see the problems you do. I will no longer reply to this thread. Bill, myself and others have not had the problems with these tires as you have had.

I am out.
