To Those Of You Who Have Never Had Your Z06 On A Road Race Course Just Let Me Say - You Don't Have A Clue What Your Car Can Really Do.

These Cars Are Truly Amazing. The Preformance And Handling Is Unbelivable.

Ran The South Course At Vir A Couple Weekends Ago And Had The Time Of My Life.

Along With The Garden Variety Of Track Cars There Were Several Other Z06's, A Couple Of Late Model Ferraris And A Porshe Gt3. Oh And A Massaged Wrx That Ran Really Well.

I Ran With The Gt3 All Day And We Pretty Much Left The Rest Of The Crowd. I'm Sure There Were A Couple Of Cars Out There That Had The Potential To Run With Us - But They Seem To Have Trouble Knowing What To Do With Their Right Foot.

Anyways - If You Get The Chance - Get Your Z06 Out On A Good Road Race Course - It's Nothing But Smile After Smile.

I ran a PDX last fall at Mid-Ohio and had a similar experience. No Porches but the Ferrari's waved us by. The 430's were very impressive and was the only car I let pass me. A fantastic time IMO.

Definitely will do this again this summer.

How do you get into to running at VIR. Can anyone just roll up there and run? Do you have to be invited or is it open to the public. I would love to run VIR. How much something like this cost? Anymore events coming up?

multiple groups do vir ... check out http://www.trackschedule.com/sched.html

Look for the VIR events it also list the club or group that has the event... go to their page to see if registration is open ect. usually 300 350 for 8 20 to 30 minute sessions over 2 days with an instructor and classroom time.... Looks like the next one you might be able to get into is near the end of May with Triangle Z... Not sure if the Audi group has seats open or if the PCA group allows Corvettes to join... I am sure that many can chime in on events ... but that page is pretty comprehensive... :-)

I Ran With Asphalt Ventures, But As The Other Thread Stated There Are Several Groups That Have Track Days.

Av Was Great - 6 One Hour Sessions - $225.

Go Out When You Want, Come In When You Want.

Pass With Wave By - Several Areas On South Course.

Thay Have A Full Course Day In Dec. - Check It Out.

Awesome to hear. I ran my 430whp GTO at Lime Rock, Pocono and a Hillclimb last summer and absolutely fell in love with road racing. Looking forward to getting some track time with the Z this year.

Might actually make VIR with the HPDE in July.

Events do sell out MONTHS in advance.

THSCC is a great club to run with, so are Audi Potomac, Carolina PCA, Zone 2 PCA, and of course my Favorite, the NCM event end of June, which sold out back in Feb.

Yeah, many of these guys sell out--rule of thumb is 2-3 months in advance. NCM is the exception.

Try Car Guys or Wilderness Trail PCA. Many of the PCA clubs will let your run--so do a search on PCA clubs in the mid atlantic and look at there event calendars and go from there.

To all of you novices like me... when is the next time that anybody knows of that I would be able to get in a group to VIR? I would love to get up there!!!! I have tried many of the clubs, but I really don't know exactly how/where to look. Thanks! I would love to go with some trusty Z06 owners for some tips since I have never had mine out on a high speed track like VIR.

Check www.virclub.com and look under schedule of events. THere is usually a link to the club that is running. Look for schools or HPDE. Audi, PCA, NCM, THSCC, Trackdaze, NASA, etc. There are hundreds of opportunities to run VIR. I have been twice this year already and plan on at least 3 more. I also will be running CMP, Road America, and SUmmit Point. Road racing is what these cars were designed and built for. Use them for that!!!
