Check with a volt meter to confirm you are getting power to the light. I would unplug the wire from the light and check it there.
If there is power to the light the light and it doesn't work then the switch inside the light is either stuck or bad. Take the light loose. When you tilt it back and forth mimicing the hood opening you can hear it clicking sort of like there is some loose inside that makes a sound when you move it.
If it's stuck you might be able to shake it to loosen it up.
Also might want to try a new bulb. Even if it looks good it could be bad.
If it's bad it's easier just to pick up a new one then to try to fix it.
