Default rear mirror question

will a rear view mirror with the auto dimming/onstar button from an 02' vette bolt into my 99' vette with just the regular rear view mirror?

From what I recall in 02 GM had 2 different auto dimming mirrors, one with a set screw and one that just slid onto the part on the windshield, and had clips built into the mirror that held it in place. As far as I know onstar was never offered in a C5. Just look at the two mirrors and see if they have the same kind of mounting? Without looking at the two you couldn't tell.

You can't just replace the mirror even if it has the same connection to the windshield. The electrical connection is different. They use two different wiring harnesses.

I just installed (5 minutes ago) the 2002 Dimming mirror with the slip on clip design on my 1997. You're correct that the connectors are different. However, all you need to do is release the metal connectors from inside the 4 pin 1997 connector and follow the http://www.c5forum.com/diy/electro_mirror.php directions for wiring. I skipped the soldering step and reused the metal connectors. Slip the old connectors right over the pins as directed and it works perfectly! The whole job took me less than 10 mins, even taking the time to not ruin the old connectors.
