I had a new Robbins top put on my C5, and within a year it had worn almost completely through on both sides where the top folds. It was replaced under warranty, but the new one is already showing signs of rubbing in the same spots. Has anyone had this problem, and if so is there a cure other then putting something in between the wear points?
Not unusual to show a dull spot. My '00 has been like that since I bought it 4 years ago and my top is never up and it has stayed the same. You can put a small towel on the wear points if it bothers you but it shouldn't get worst.
I will try to post pictures tomorrow. This material is coarser then
the original top and it did actually wear almost completely through in a year. I am putting a polishing rag between it now but this did not seem to be a problem with the original top and I am wondering if it was created by the installation.
I have taken photos, but it appears I can not post them. I will email them to anyone who wants to look at them. Otherwise I will try to describe the location. The one spot is on the stiching right next to where the top rear corner of the window seats (right at the 90 degree bend). the other is on the seam that connects the back window panel to the side. It is in line with the center of the back window. these spots are under the corner of the large third rib when the top folds down. The top tha was replaced had worn in the same spots on both sides of the car. This one appears to be wearing only on the drivers side which makes me suspect that some allignment might fix the problem.
