I am new to the forum and have been told this is a great site. I own a 2002 C5 convertable with 4,218 miles. I am at a point that I am paranoid to take it out of the garage and drive it. I have never really enjoyed driving it due to not relaxing with the car. I don't want to scratch it or get a stone chip. I have this feeling I can't park it outside. Do I keep it for a collector or do I sell it? I just start it up every few weeks and keep it showroom clean.
I'm a bit of a waxer myself. I drive my coupe around 4000 miles a year. However, it is much more fun to drive it than to stare at it in the garage. I take it to the drag strip and to country roads and flog it pretty good. Good clean fun.
Drive it!!!!! Its not gonna hold any value anyway. Why did you buy it in the first place...?
Its just a car, they get rock chips, door dings, scratches...have fun with it. The weather is getting nice.
You can take care of a car and still drive it to have fun. Being too paranoid about anything is no fun and that's one of the basic things about vetts, they're FUN
My 03' has over 44,000 miles, and I am fanatical about keeeping it clean, and as perfect as possible. If you get up real close, yeah, you'll find a nick here and there, But I didn't buy it to look at. I drive it and enjoy it. If you can't do that, why have it?

Despite the low mileage...the car wont see investment potential in your lifetime....unless youre about 6 years old!!!...DRIVE IT!!!!....I got my FIRST "ding" in my new C6 Z-06 today...a tractor-trailer kicked up a rock and WHAM...I actually felt it hit my side view mirror...Made a pretty sizeable gouge in it..but oh well...I REFUSE to just let it sit in the garage....Im sure it's the first of MANY Im going to get in it
I bought my 03 Z06 with 3,700 miles on her two months ago. I have a 90 ZR1 besdie her with roughly 25K on her. My buddy said it best to me ...I really appreciate you not driving your vettes and keeping the miles off. That way when I buy your vette they will be low mile trailer Queens I can put crap loads of miles on for a fraction of what you paid for the car. Thanks Buddy!!
Drive the dam car and enjoy it. otherwise what's the point.
As others have pointed out, there is NO fianacial reason not to drive the car. If you don't drive it, all you are doing is saving it for the next owner to drive as it depreciates in your garage.
Seriously, get in it, start it up and go enjoy it while it is yours. Drive it!
I drive my "fun" cars around 3K / year each and keep tham very clean. They do get stone chips. Stone chips can be fixed, windshields can be replaced, etc. It's just the facts of life.
If you decide not to drive it, call me when you decide to sell it. That way I can enjoy the vehicle after you've absorbed all the depreciation on it!

Don't waste a great ride!! It's time to get it out of the garage and take a nice long cruise, you won't be sorry. Actually, you will probably have a permanent smile on your face.
Don't know if your paranoid or not, and can't visualize your surroundings since you didn't fill in your profile. If you live in a tough urban area, caution is common sense, not paranoia. Your comfort level is easily remedied by seat time, so drive it early on weekends when traffic is light -- and enjoy. And, don't forget to wave!
Also, gotta pull your chain: You wrote about your "convertable," a word usually associated with sofas -- and mis-used in classified ads so often (including our forum) it's become common. For cars with tops that fold down, its "...ible."
I say keep it in the garage, when I get done beating the **** out of the one I have, I can buy your devalued low mileage mint vette for next to nothing and start all over again.
