Default Raptor Shift Light Install? Help!!!

I have tried to follow Flyin'Brian's instructions and not been able to make it work. I hooked black to a ground in the bundle and the red to the pink in the bundle which should be hot. When I test the pink I am only getting 8.5v. At the battery and on the guage I am getting a little over 14v. I am sure this is part of my problem but I am not sure how to solve it. Any ideas? I also have not been able to get the tach needle to jump by grounding the white wire so I am still not sure which one is correct. I also probed hooked up to green rapton wire and got no response. That is probably related to the first problem. I checked voltage with car running so it should have been full voltage. I would like to figure it out before I race on Friday but at this rate it will be after all my kids have graduated from college. Thanks for the help.

I hooked mine up by grabbing the ground and switched power in the passanger toe board. I believe the yellow wire is switched power. The ground was a white wire under the pass toe board and I believe there are a few in there. If you have a multi meter all you gotta do is set it to AC current and probe the wire. if the current goes up when the rpms go up then you found the right wire. Like 2k on the tach should be about 2 volts AC
