Farily new c5 owner here. Bought a c5 from a fellow forum member and all is excellent for the most part!
So it's a 98' vert and just this past weekend I noticed the oil PSI guage was topping out at 80 psi so I clicked over to the digital read and it said the oil PSI was 130? WTF? I've just had the oil changed etc. and all is reading well with the dipstick.
Oil Pressure sending unit! Happens all of the time on the C5's....It is located behind the intake and the intake has to be pulled to replace it! If you do a search you will find plenty of info!

Cool thanks man! I figured it was a gauge malfunction.
Both are good ideas but I think by relocating it you are just making another point that has a potential to leak, and its not that hard to change.....also I just cant bring myself to cut a hole there! haha
When I was test driving C5's to buy one, over half of them I drove had the oil sending unit failure. The one I bought did too....
I used the method where you simply cut a hole under the wiper cowl - if you haven't already seen it. It was easiest for me and you can't tell it's been done afterwards. Some people frown at the idea of cutting on their car, but to me it was easier than pulling the intake and will make it a simple job for the next guy---if there is one.

At least with the relocate, it's a 10 minute fix in your Sunday best. If you buy a quality kit, there are no extra leak concerns.
