I am still getting used to driving a manual since all of my cars have been autos, I'm getting better but was wondering about something. I've been practicing my shifts at WOT(not on the street of course) going through all the gears. On my 1-2 shift, after letting out on the clutch and getting back in the gas the car hesitates to accelerate for about a second, then picks back up. Shifting happens so fast I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I let out on the clutch quickly or I think I do at least and it only happens on my 1-2 shift.

Sounds like your leaving traction control on. If you are, then thats what will happen. You can take off traction control or put it in competitive mode and try it out again. Problem should be solved.. If it continues to hesitate, then your problems are elsewhere..

Definitely use competitive mode if you are still getting used to the car. With traction control completely off these cars can get a little out of hand if you are still learning
It's not the rev limiter, I haven't hit that yet. I was thinking it was traction control since I was leaving it on. It was just weird because the car didn't get power going into 2nd gear to break the tires loose then traction control take over to limit the wheel spin. Maybe it happens so fast I just don't realize it TC has come on.
that tc always spoils the fun so disable it with the button on the console. use comp mode unless you're really feeling good at handling the car. it may save your butt.

Until you're very proficient in driving your new car with a manual transmission, don't even consider pushing the console button.
Learn to drive the car first...allow the computers to correct your errors for a while. They're much faster than you'll ever be at correcting for human error. Take some professional training coarses. Only then consider pushing the button.
There's way to many threads on this site from new owners who post "I wrecked my new car today"...
Oh, and remember the names of anyone who suggests to you to push the button because it's so much fun...they won't be around to help you fix or pay for the inevitable damage your car will sustain.

hotwheels great advise learn to drive a 6 speed man before you ever touch that button don't be one that has to learn the hard way what did i do to my car good luck and there is no substitute for experience
Ok....planing on taking my Z to the track. What will the "competitive" mode do for me?
From what I've experienced it will let the tires spin if the car's rear end is staying pretty straight, but if the car senses the car's rear end drifting to the left or right it will keep the car from getting too far out of shape.
Since you clarified that you're not doing this on the street, and you'll never really learn how to control the car with traction control on, go to a safe environment such as a track or get permission to a large empty parking lot and play with it. Start with comp mode and start mellow and progressively get more aggressive with your technique until you get a feel for the car. Don't apply any of this to a public road.
Here's something that hasn't been mentioned. When I first learned how to drive manual on the vette, I wasn't smooth at all with high-rpm shifts. The cause was that, while my shifting was pretty quick, my timing was off between releasing the clutch and getting on the gas. It's not necessarily as noticeable of a hesitation as traction control cutting power, but its still enough to toss your head around a little bit.
****- be careful! Learning on a Z06 is crazy! Most likely it is the traction control. The stock goodyears spin very easily in first and second under wot and even less pedal positions.Do not turn it off at this point! You should not turn it off untill you get lots more experience. Even with it on, this is not the car to learn how to shift. If you shift into second with the revs up and just dump the clutch you will be off the road even with everything on. Take it to an off road location and practice. Your best bet would be to take a racing driving course. This car is very dangerous even for experienced drivers. Please take your time learning. This car changes attitude rather quickly. Turn the tc and ah off on public roads and you will be very sorry!
Best bet is an empty parking lot or desolate road w/no trees, no light poles, zero traffic. Always be aware of your surroundings and don't be practicing your shifting near solid objects or other vehicles.
It takes a while to learn to shift. Drive the car every day and always go through the pattern. My '93 was my first manual but I had a lesson on in an old Subbie first.

Well I'm not learning to drive a manual for the first time if that's what you mean, I am learning to drive a high performance manual for the first time. I've driven my Dad's Ford Ranger and at my last job a Ford F250, they were both manual, but it's a bit different driving a manual for performance and with a lot shorter throws. I have turned everything off and went WOT rolling in 1st gear, and honestly I have never felt I was not in control of the car, but I've never went through all the gears with it turned off. The back end comes out a little and I back out of it, I'm sure if I just kept on it it might get a little crazy. I hit it a little going around a turn and just the little bit it came out scared me lol. I would not dare go WOT going around a turn. I was on vacation in my old college town and my friends Dad has a short asphalt landing strip for 2 seater planes which I got to run it down a couple times, guess I will have to wait till I go back and turn off TC to see how I will do
