Good post Dee Gee,...........I for one do not have any ill will towards the English, Brits, UK etc.

I trotted the quick shots in same spirit that Jeremy pokes fun at Americans...........did you ever see his 1000.00 car in the American South show ? I certainly meant no real harm and please take it in the spirit is was written..........to bust *****.

I have no fear of different or foreign people,.....I lived in Germany for 5 years..............and loved it. A good majority of my love of cars is due to exposure to the German Autobahn, Nurburing and rally racing in general. I had an International drivers license and drove to a sustained 169 MPH in a Porsche 928S4 a few times. An was a passenger in a Lambo Countach at a sustained 180 MPH...........it was wonderful.

Bottom line is this guy irritated me with some unfounded statements about a pretty damn good car. You are spot on with your statement about EU cars being better cars from a fit/finish/materials/feel category. They are a more precise instrument,.......but in terms of performance and getting around a track,........for the money a Corvette cannot be beat.

I commend you on your decision to drive a V8 sportscar in a 9 buck a gallon petro market. It is a good thing the Corvette gets fair to good gas mileage.

I like TG too...it's the british humor that makes the show worthwhile watching.He once said:the new corvette(C6) has the suspension(leafspring) like a medieval oxcar...now that's funny. Personally,I wouldn't worry about any comments he makes.I for one wouldn't be seen dead in a british car....I think the corvette is an icon no british made car can ever exceed.
The corvette has the most bang for the buck...I think that's why I'm driving one too.The corvette is a great concept and has evolved through the years to where it is now.I think GM has done a great job.

I would agree that European sports cars such as the 911 and the like have much nicer interiors than the vette.and that JC has that dry Briticsh humor and you really can't take him to seriously. However, if the 911s and the like have some much better handling potential than the vettes than why does the C6R wipe its **** with them in the Lemans series?

BTW,.......on the McClaren, Renault, Honda, Super Aguri, Red Bull UK based teams.

English racing teams are awesome....

I will definitely concede that their cars are highly competitive and in some cases dominate.

Because the C6R has a super V8 with lots of grunt and they took out the leaf springs and replaced them with something better. You don't have to worry too much about the interior finish and radio much in a race car either

Yeah, he's an idiot. It's not that he hates Corvettes, but rather ALL American cars. They dynoed a brand new 500bhp GT500 and claimed that Ford overrated the car since it 'only' made 475 RWHP! That's easily 550bhp+, but they are too dumb to do the math.

NBC has bought the rites to Top Gear. They are making an American version of the show. It will be named GEAR and should air sometime this summer. Adam Carolla is going to be one of the hosts.

Guys, remember this is a scripted entertainment show. Jeramey rags on everyone, not just the Corvette. ( Well except Aston Martin. ) It is still the best car show on the air. I hope that NBC does not ruin it. It is hard to rag on a car if they are a sponsor on any other NBC show.

Actually, I saw another show where they dynoed a few old supercars and they mentioned that the program they were running on the dyno showed the rwhp and then it also converted that number to a rough estimate of the actual brake horsepower at the engine as well.

So when they tested the Ford GT I do believe the 475hp number they found was the converted number at the engine, not rwhp. Ford actually has had a bit of a history of over rating some of their engines in the past.

And that is the hook. BBC is not sponsored, they can rag on anything they want. The show will not be the same on a sponsored network like NBC. I fear it will unfortunately suck.

People really need to lighten up about Jeremy. So he finds faults in the Corvette, I do too. I think leaf springs are pre-cambrian technology. The radio however I do love, as it is much better than any other system in a car I have used. He doesn't hate the Corvette, he just found areas that could've been improved, so what? Hell there are PLENTY of Americans that will talk crap about Corvettes so what? Move on, the show is awesome.

If I had the chance to drive the cars he does on the roads he gets to drive them, Id probably complain about the stuff he does also......except I dont think it looks to wide etc.....
