The BMW pucks stay in place permanently. They simply snap into place. They're lightweight nylon material. They're low profile.
Your aluminum pucks only work if you remember where you put them, remember to take them with you, remember to take them out, weight a lot more, take up space in your car and cause more potential damage to your car and/or someone behind you if you forget to remove them and they fall out while going down the road...

I agree, I had one puck that lost it's grip and they sent me a replacement no charge, no complaints. GREAT CS

since these pucks snap into place, how do you remove them if you need to?

and they're really only 1/2" thick? that sounds pretty good!

Just pry them out with a large screwdriver or small pry bar. They come out easy.

They are a pressure fit, but can be popped off with a screw driver.
So low profile you really can't see them from a side view unless you look hard.
Nice pucks

Make your own out of hockey pucks. You can make them single or double thick. I did double and JB welded them. Complete with eye-screws under $15

when they're that thick, how the heck do you get a jack under them?

there's no way i could get a jack under a double like that.

what's the thickness of each one?

I just took the part No. 51 71 1 960 752 down to my local BMW dealer and said give me four of em. I paid more than the online price but had them in my hand immediately. They just snap in - I usually leave mine in all the time.
