[Z06] Front license plate frames/covers - what do you run?

I have done this too but in black: http://store.corvetteforum.com/p-609...-clear-c5.aspx. Just tape off the clear section that you want and spray paint it on the inside. $25 bucks and 20 minutes.

No plate...........
I've never had front plates on any Vette I've owned for close to thirty years in the three states that I've lived in , Kalifornia, Oregon and Soth Dakota( never really understood why they would be required , since the cops come up from BEHIND. ) So I can't help you there.
But the GM spray touch up paints are twice as expensive as say Dupli-color. I have a QuickSilver Z06 and Dupli-Color does not list that , but Galaxy Silver ( GM color) is the very same !! Dupli-Color number DSGM5010 . This a base coat and does require a clear top coat.

I have a hide away plate holder. Folds down and slides back under the bumper. It attaches under the front bumper and houses the front plate. I always drive with it tucked away and if I do run into "ociffer Jones" I say I forgot to flip it up after the last car show. They are about $30.00. I will take a pic of it later and post.

In MN any cover over the plate is illegal...even if it's clear. You can either run without a plate ,run with a flip up and hope they still don't tag you, Run with a plate but covered and hope they still don't tag you, some people run the ram air mesh intake look, or just put the plate on and not worry. I would either just not run one and hope to not get pulled over or run one and not worry.

I have not put a front plate on my car (although it is needed in MN), but feel pretty vulnerable everytime I see a cop. What options are people with front plates running (covers with openings, alternative positions, clear, clear with body color surround etc, etc). Not sure yet if I will actually fit one, but it would be good to see how others have approached this without using the nasty black GM frame.
