How much should a pre-purchase inspection cost for a 2000 C5? I have found one I like but I would like to be 100% sure there are no flaws. So those of you who have gotten them for a vette could you please chime in with some numbers?
Also, where should I go to get one? Is a dealer a good idea or should I take it to a local shop.
The car is in St. Pete, FL so if any of you are in the Tampa Bay area I would appreciate it if you knew of a good place to go for a pre-purchase inspection.
I bought my car down in Tampa/St. Pete and I had the owner take it to a dealer down there the week before I bought it. I called the dealer and made sure they understood I was their customer and wanted a complete going over of the car and that I was going to be paying for it. I had the owner drop the car off. The car owner wasn't wild about the idea but he wanted to sell the car ad I didn't want to fly down from Northern VA on a bust.
The dealer even had the service records on the car and gave me copies. I think it cost me about $200 but it was well worth it. Typical moist differential side seal and got the owner to knock a little more off the car. Sorry but I don't remember the name of the dealer.
Thanks so far, more input would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to see if he'll agree to pay for half of it and I'll pay for all of it if there are no real problems with it. Also I'm sure that a few little things will come up so it may help me knock the price down a little when he sees the car is not perfect
