Quick question for the group. I just noticed a small area towards the back of my hatch (2004 spiral gray) where the paint is slightly duller than the rest of the car. I routinely wash and detail my car I know that this spot was not there a week ago. It's almost looks like something was spilled on the car and it caused the paint to lose it's shine in this small spot. I tried to wash with soap and water and wax, but to no avail. Should I try rubbing compound? Any suggestions? The car's paint is immacculate except for this one blemish and it is driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.
The issue on the hatch paint was a wavey sort of thing, in a line , on either side of the emblem. Not a dull sort of thing.
Something probably did drop on the car. I must have been behind someone loosing either brake fluid or tranny fluid once on a long trip (could have been a backhoe on a trailer also). Didnt notice till I got home and washed it the next day, but there was a dull drip on the front.
I have tried a little scratch ex, and a little compound, and wax, but its still there.
Im pretty sure you can get almost anything to go away, I just havent been able to by hand yet. Its like the finish is eaten away (not to the primer, but probably thru the paint).
Try a detail shop. They do this all the time and may be able to just hit it with a buffer and make it go away for $20.
