It's the window regulator. I need to have mine replaced as well.

My car does this randomly. One day it will be the passengers door that will not go down and then another day it will be the drivers side door. Very aggravating if you ask me.

common problem.

1. push and hold button for window down
2. firmly bang door.
fixed.
then, use the dang thing once a week.

if you think I'm joking.. do a search. I'm not.

From the inside, bang hard directly on the door handle while repeatedly pressing the window down switch. It works EVERY time.

This isn't a joke.

That is why I posted the link. I have never understood the 'slam' thing why not just kick the door.

There are two possibilities but not limited to: one being a loose connection, or the window got 'jammed' in the up position thus jamming the regulator.

I would try diagnosing the problem as opposed to slamming the door.

In my case it was the relays.

I have replaced the window regulator assembly on both sides on my 04 Z06 and they work fine.
Mine would work intermittently, but it was not worth the aggrivation to never know if they would work or not.
You might be able to bang on the door to get them to work for awhile, but once they mess up, you might as well replace them.

I don't think you can get the dealer to just replace the regulator. I think it comes with the motor and the whole job is around 500 bucks. Anyone know if that's the case??

Had a similar problem but on the driver side. open the door and shake the black accordian tube that holds the wires. That fixed my problem. Ghetto but worth a shot before you pay any cash.

A dealer is probably not going spend the time to just replace the motor. They will replace the whole assembly. The list price is $400 to $500, but there are a few places on-line that you can order GM parts at a discount for around $250.

Try Paul at South Florida Window Lift.

http://www.windowmotor.com/

He sells rebuilt ones with a warranty. Very affordable. I have a 2003 and he wanted $150 for the regulator with the motor. Plus you get back $25 for the core. Net is $125. Good luck.
