Default Dash plaque

I posted this in the C5 general topics but thought i'd post here as well. As I was browsing thru some Ebay auctions I found this auction for dash plaques.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259 The only other decent looking dash plaque was this one at $40.http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/corz06facrat.html I've just emailed them with questions on the posssiblitiy of reproducing the C5 Z06 logo/emblem/fender badge.

GM has trademarked the Z06 emblem and name ..... go here and you can see this .....

http://www.uspto.gov/index.html

On the LEFT select TRADEMARK

Then select item 3 (SEARCH TESS)

Then select any type of SEARCH (such as BASIC) and enter Z06 ....

Any product made with the "Z06" logo has to authorized by GM.

Dave,

I have the afterthoughts dash plaque. It is a very nice piece. I placed it on the traction control button area. Looks like it came there. Don

Default looking for something different..............

BlackZ06 , I talked to the sales/owner about GM logo infringement and he said he has authorization, as does Ford and Dodge, ect. So not problemo there.

dwjZ06, I saw the afterthoughts dash plaque, and agree it looks like something GM would have made, the brushed finish and specs. But I want something a little different, similar yes, not Bling. The owner , Howard suggested adding the VIN number , which I thought was a good idea. We are hashing out designs and specifics now.

Sounds good. Post a pic when you get it made.

Default Check out the C5 forum under Dash Plaque for more info

I'm back with the vendor on this dash plaque. I would value your opinions as to what the Z06 logo should look like and if the 405hp should be on it:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2024510 The lastest redition:[IMG][/IMG] and as Paul Harvey says," ...http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...2024510&page=2page 2"

Ideally this would be the image to use less the 405 HP so the plate could be made to show the actual horse power if the car had been modified or for the 2001's. I think it is important that the "Z" be red and inside an oval. The "06" could be black.

Dave,

Have you thought of just using a factory fendor badge? Where are you placing it? Ash tray lid or console traction control button area? I think I like the bright alloy color as it is pretty dark inside with all of the black interior stuff anyway. Nice design. Don

Wayneinvirginia, dwjz06 ; ideally? unfortunately we are dealing with 2 dimensions. How would you go about producing a dash plate with the fender badge without gluing it down on a plate? Look at any of the OEM engine spec plates out there , like Shelby, ect.

The "afterthoughts" dash plate has a Z06 glued on it. Would the factory do that? I want it to look like it was supposed to be there not an afterthought ( little play on words, hahaha)

I may reverse the colors i.e. red Z with black "06" , black oval outline, then red boarder outline.

I tried to get a company in Texas to laser cut the dash plate from 1/4 inch 6061 to get a 3D effect but the cost would be prohibitive. I also went to a company that laser cuts acrylic plastics (I've done work with them before)[IMG][/IMG] This is the kind of work they do each color is a laser cut jigsaw puzzel piece. This is not a drawing. But again it did not look authentic. So I'm dealing with a printer/etching shop.

I want to place it on the console like the C3 or on the dash like the 1968 Shelby .

What I was trying to say didn't come across in my post. I wasn't asking for a three dimensional piece.

I was wondering how it would look if he kept the red "Z", removed the black background and made the oval and the "06" in black.

Default Ok, that's better........

Ok RonVette2, That's better remembering that the white will be brushed aluminum and no black backround. Just the straight Z06 logo with the red out line. That's much better . Thanks Ron.
Since I've talked to this vendor he has added this dash plaque to his product line. Nice that it's personalized with your name ( if you want that on there ) and the Vin number ,which I thought was more offical looking. It's a good price , even delivered. Here is his Ebay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corve...spagenameZWDVW

Not a bad looking badge at all. I have the afterthoughts one too. It's nice, but small and doesn't get a lot of notice. You can see it in the second pic. So if that's what you want, go for it. It's good quality. Or if you want something bigger, go with the one below (the one from the ebay auction)

Default Designing my own...........

Z06RL ; I'm familiar with Afterthoughts dash plate and every other das plate out there, this is why I'm having a dash spec plate designed and fabricated. I just think that the others are missing something or another. Just as you mentioned the Afterthoughts plate is small and one that Howard from Unique Auto supplies is his own idea.

I will incorporate some features from many different dash palques after market and OEM. As I've mentioned , I've contacted several manufacturing shops , from laser to to engraving and printing. Appreciate your input . DD

Default all projects on hold............

For all that are watching the development of the dash plaque, well that and everything is on hold for a time. My 80 y/o dad died yesterday. Got a lot to do in Texas.
